Roberto Martinez discussion

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Our previous 3 results were form, Martinez has no class.

Our new overlords need to complete their buyout ASAP and line up a proper manager as priority number one. Let him plan behind the scenes, sack Martinez on the last day of the season then get the new guy in straight away.

The manager sets them up to play that way. The manager is in sole control of the shape. The tempo and application of tactics on the pitch in a given game is the manager.

In terms of what the players were asked to do - tippy tappy around, dominate possession and sod all else - they did really well! They did exactly what was asked of them.

That's why I blame the manager, because everything he had control over he ballsed up spectacularly. Yeah, Barkley misses a sitter, but it's a result of a defence who have been so good adding pressure on the chance to take it - as for all the useless possession, we had two (at best) actual chances in that entire second half.

To be clear though I'm not saying the manager is blameless. Of course he isn't. The subs in particular were weird and at weird times too.

But he set up the team to get 30 odd shots in today. What do people want? 50 odd?!

West Brom adjusted themselves in the second half and we find it even harder to break down.

Surely the players are to blame more. Today at least.

Lennon hadn't contributed much in the second half mate. Cleverley either.

I wouldn't have put Kone on personally but he's a much better manager than I am hence him earning the big bucks.

Sometimes in sport it just doesn't go your way, despite being much better than the opposition.

Today was one of them days.
I think Lennon was still our best player in the second half, which, in itself is a bit mental. So I am not exactly thrilled with that sub. Cleverley? another 7/10 performance. But he'll start the next match. Kone has been abysmal for awhile now, but he'll get in over a far more talented player in Mirallas because of pride. Today a team was very disciplined defensively and crowded the box. So what helps there? A player who can shoot from distance with accuracy. Is/was Kone that player or would someone who has scored loads of goals from outside the box that player?

Like I said, Im fine with being beaten. I just don't like how he has this loyalty to a player that has been pretty shocking since he scored a hat trick against a woeful team almost 6 months ago.

So Leicester at home, Palace at home, Swansea at home, Watford at home...today...all just down to "not our day"......or, there could be a pattern forming here!

As @ste d' indica just said to me in a text, we win the odd games when the good players have a good day and shine, they are getting him out of the crap with the odd and I mean odd decent performance and also because he league is so unpredictable this year.

Any other season and many would be calling for his head.

I just ain't going to expect anything anymore whilst he is here, then anything is a bonus.
That's a very defeatist attitude to take mate and it's contrary to where Everton are at the moment, in my opinion.

Very frustrating season, we're decimating teams, just need the goals and luck to go with it. Let's see if it arrives but to jib our manager off now would be madness.

We had 35 shots. They had one shot on goal and scored from it.

But "awful management". Come on mate you're brighter than this.

Was their only corner of the match too. The lynching of Martinez is so frenzied when we lose that all reason is chucked out the window, and objective viewing of the match is abandoned

Today the match winners didn't perform, the opposition were outstanding defensively, and we got simply desperately unlucky at times. The subs weren't great for me, but they made some sense and we had enough opportunities to score. I just don't see how this falls on Martinez, I really don't

I expect Everton to finish mid table and have done for the whole season...so I'm not fuming over the results, they are pretty much bang on what I expected. Next year will be similar

If it was the first time this season we had dominated a game but lost to a silly goal we could hold our hands up and say it was one of those days. The fact is we are averaging a game a month like this through this season so something is wrong.
It's the Premier League mate, these games happen to teams with more money and better players than us often too.

Jibbing him off now could get us up the league and further in the cup. He just isn't cutting the mustard with results.

We didn't - never two wingers on the pitch, not one change altered the shape and I counted five times max that we played a ball in to feet and played off the man with a give and go.

It was awful management. Possession and shooting from stupid positions isn't dominating a game; defence is an equal part of football and they absolutely battered us defensively.

He is afraid to play with two wingers.
His confidence is shattered and now goes the risk averse option every time.

Imagine bringing on Osman, when you've got Mirallas, Pienaar and Baines on the bench. Jesus Wept.

Kone, Kone....KONE!!??
