Roberto Martinez discussion

this is the 'knee jerk' I meant, it was hardly a limp loss..we battered them and were unlucky, people have no patience at all
Well he's had a crap record at home for over 18 months now so how much patience are the fans meant to have? It's a perfect reasonable result to look at the results at home and want to criticize him for it because it hasn't shown any sign of improving, hardly a knee-jerk reaction if you're looking at 18 months of crap past performance. Watching the same things over and over again and expecting a different result....

30 odd attempts today....but it's the managers fault of course.

The amount our players get away with from some in here is embarrassing.

And a word for how well West Brom played at the back? Of course not.

Not exactly the first time though is it mate? They did exactly the same to us last season.

He has 1 style of play, days like today show that if it isn't going to his plan, he hasn't got an iota of an idea how to change the play.

Just keep doing the same thing over and over without any end result.

35 shots from Everton. They had one shot on goal.

Come on. Their box was more packed that a Glasgow tenement in 1937.

So why didn't we change shape, play quicker with two wingers and drag them out of position, playing more of the give and go passes that looked to open them up every time we played one every 15 minutes?

There's a right way to play against a team like that - passing around like tits in front of them and ballooning over from distance or on your wrong foot isn't it.

Martinez will get blamed for substitutions and perhaps rightly, the kone one especially had me scratching my head

But this game was a failure of the players, not the manager. We crafted more than enough chances to get a point if not all three, and barring the post and Ross skying when clean through, we would have been fine.

The match winners weren't at the races, and that cannot fall on the manager. We dominated, but couldn't break down a team that at times had five bodies on the six yard box with the ball seven yards out(Coleman chance during the 20th minute comes to mind)

Subs were ehh, but we were desperately unlucky. I cannot blame the manager for that

Tony Pulis outmanaged Roberto Martinez today.

They set up to defend and did it admirably, as we took three touches every time one would have done tippy tappy'd our way to loss.

How many saves did Foster have to make in that second half mate? One?

Atrocious like for like substitutions all over the shop yet again from a 'manager' who has no idea how to manage; instead, he's a football theorist.

There is no "right" way to win a game of football; you do it whatever is necessary. Unfortunately, we're led by someone who has absolutely no clue what that means.

Read it and weep.

Spot on Tubey.

2 seasons running: goals v Tony Pulis West Brom at home. 0.

He has no idea how to beat a pragmatic team. Man for man we are superior all over the Park yet this keeps happening.

To be successful you have to be able to attack AND defend and be clever enough to win ugly.

First job of the new owners will be to find a suitable manager to take this talented side to where it should be.
