Roberto Martinez discussion

It keeps happening like this. I'm a dumb SOCKAH loving Yank and even I could see this coming a week ago.

The only reason they got through in year 1 as well as they did against these teams was a string of free kicks and wonder goals. It's never going to change.

I'm not saying the manager is blameless though.

I'm saying there are more than him why we lost today. But people immediately jump on him as it's easy.

Can't blame the 'best squad ever' though. Oh no. God no. How could we?

Can't praise the opposition for doing a job on us? Oh no of course not.

It's all the manager. Nothing else.

It's actually a bit pathetic.

The manager sets them up to play that way. The manager is in sole control of the shape. The tempo and application of tactics on the pitch in a given game is the manager.

In terms of what the players were asked to do - tippy tappy around, dominate possession and sod all else - they did really well! They did exactly what was asked of them.

That's why I blame the manager, because everything he had control over he ballsed up spectacularly. Yeah, Barkley misses a sitter, but it's a result of a defence who have been so good adding pressure on the chance to take it - as for all the useless possession, we had two (at best) actual chances in that entire second half.

Football is about points not plaudits for passing it around, ask Leicester fans.

We've regressed unfortunately, if we used to languish 16th before he took over I'd say yes, slowly progressing. But we were a solid top 6 side with a fortress at home. It's a free for all at goods on these days

obvs its about points, its also about building a side and perhaps having set backs within that..thats whats happening here, but people want it NOW!!!

Before anyone calls me out for kneejerking - just look at the subs he made today.

Europa League has gone down the toilet after today's result. I don't think any of the bottom four have another five wins in them - in any case I'm convinced we'll do Sunderland at theirs and Norwich on the last day - so that's us for the season and it's safe to get rid of El Coco.

Thanks for everything, but you just haven't cut the mustard Berto - and in any case you would have gone 12 months ago if we'd had the yanks in charge.... or simply not appointed at all.

When we start winning more games I suppose mate.

I can see they're working hard on that, I'm sure everyone else can. Today just wasn't our day.

So Leicester at home, Palace at home, Swansea at home, Watford at home...today...all just down to "not our day"......or, there could be a pattern forming here!

As @ste d' indica just said to me in a text, we win the odd games when the good players have a good day and shine, they are getting him out of the crap with the odd and I mean odd decent performance and also because he league is so unpredictable this year.

Any other season and many would be calling for his head.

I just ain't going to expect anything anymore whilst he is here, then anything is a bonus.

Agree 100 per cent with this. It's totally the managers fault when we lose with some.
Some of our players lack the real ruthless streak needed to be at a top 4 side. Maybe that's why they are with us

We had 35 shots. They had one shot on goal and scored from it.

But "awful management". Come on mate you're brighter than this.
If it was the first time this season we had dominated a game but lost to a silly goal we could hold our hands up and say it was one of those days. The fact is we are averaging a game a month like this through this season so something is wrong.

I agree with all of what you're saying chico. We were unlucky today, hitting the posts twice didn't help anything. At the same time though you must surely be getting a little annoyed with how poor we have been at home when teams are sitting off of us. It has been going on for a while and is a big contributor to us not being able to move up the league. I'm not calling for his head yet, but I think it's fair for the fans to have a moan about it.
Oh aye I'm dead frustrated here as it's another three points that we lost that we didn't deserve mate.

I'd be much more fuming if we deserved to get beat though.

2 seasons running: goals v Tony Pulis West Brom at home. 0.

He has no idea how to beat a pragmatic team. Man for man we are superior all over the Park yet this keeps happening.

To be successful you have to be able to attack AND defend and be clever enough to win ugly.

First job of the new owners will be to find a suitable manager to take this talented side to where it should be.
agree with you, i have been sitting on the fence over him for to long he isn't good enough for Everton, point blank.lost more than we have won at home, those subs today finished me with him, Osman just what does he bring to the team ? anything anybody got a clue, has been finished for at least two years,Kone a forward who cant shoot . and its the same old story bit of effort and keep it tight at the back we haven't a clue ,once might be unlucky not the number of time it happens to us,
