Roberto Martinez discussion

Dunno mate, taking off Lennon was a bit mental, as was bringing on Kone they way his form is right now

and why in a game like that keep McCarthy and Barry both on for practically the whole game
Lennon hadn't contributed much in the second half mate. Cleverley either.

I wouldn't have put Kone on personally but he's a much better manager than I am hence him earning the big bucks.

Sometimes in sport it just doesn't go your way, despite being much better than the opposition.

Today was one of them days.

Have to agree. amazing subs. I think RM underestimated WBA. We needed two wingers going at their full backs for the entire second half.

Del Boy/Miralles could have played on the left for the second half leaving Lennon on the right.

But we get a big number, Kone, who is meat and drink for WBA and had to rely on our full backs to do something.

Kone and Osman.... ..How can RM be so out of touch?

We had 90 minutes to do it and Coudnt we can see the pattern of the game the manager should. We losing all the time as home to utter joke of sides. But hey ho pass pass pass

we created loads of chances from pass, pass, pass...assume you didn't watch the game

lukaku was off it today unfortunately..shame niasse wasn't fit could have made the difference

I think we did try all that mate to be honest.

It didn't work this time. Credit to West Brom for outstanding defence.

I'd be a lot more concerned if they out played us but it was us with all the chances really.

Put the flaming torches down you utter quims.

We didn't - never two wingers on the pitch, not one change altered the shape and I counted five times max that we played a ball in to feet and played off the man with a give and go.

It was awful management. Possession and shooting from stupid positions isn't dominating a game; defence is an equal part of football and they absolutely battered us defensively.

A Barkley trademark shot that's never beating the first man is a poor decision and shouldn't pad stats. The Barry shot that was heading in and was blocked about 6yds away and about 4 from goal is a legit shot.
I get where you're coming from but a shot is still a shot.
With all the bloody deflections we've had scored against us this season at crucial junctures and times in games you would have thought we could have spawned one today with the number of shots they got something on.

Tony Pulis outmanaged Roberto Martinez today.

They set up to defend and did it admirably, as we took three touches every time one would have done tippy tappy'd our way to loss.

How many saves did Foster have to make in that second half mate? One?

Atrocious like for like substitutions all over the shop yet again from a 'manager' who has no idea how to manage; instead, he's a football theorist.

There is no "right" way to win a game of football; you do it whatever is necessary. Unfortunately, we're led by someone who has absolutely no clue what that means.

I'm not saying the manager is blameless though.

I'm saying there are more than him why we lost today. But people immediately jump on him as it's easy.

Can't blame the 'best squad ever' though. Oh no. God no. How could we?

Can't praise the opposition for doing a job on us? Oh no of course not.

It's all the manager. Nothing else.

It's actually a bit pathetic.

Please just sack him asap.

Season is pretty much over. As soon as we get a decent team in the FA Cup we'll bottle that, so get somebody in until the end of the season and assess our options between now and summer as to who the right person is to take us forward.

I dare say Moyes wouldn't have us performing so disgracefully with this squad.

I do blame Martinez for that defeat for a number of reasons. We have 13 or more corners and threatened from 1 of them, they had 1 corner and scored. It may be dull and basic football WBA play but defending and attacking set pieces like they do will gain you points and we are awful at set pieces.
Why do we have 3 wide players on the bench and no centre half (Galloway) and then only bring on 1 of them?!!!

Osman offers absolutely nothing any more and should only play if there is no other option. The game was crying out for two wingers and Mirallas should've come on instead of Kone and instead of Osman either Pienaar or Kone should've come on.

Also why did McCarthy come off when he is able to cover the ground quicker than Barry who was also on a yellow?

Nothing but a victory next week is acceptable.

young side, playing great football but not getting the results they need, not far off results improving..give it time

Football is about points not plaudits for passing it around, ask Leicester fans.

We've regressed unfortunately, if we used to languish 16th before he took over I'd say yes, slowly progressing. But we were a solid top 6 side with a fortress at home. It's a free for all at goods on these days

We had 35 shots. They had one shot on goal and scored from it.

But "awful management". Come on mate you're brighter than this.

When we start winning more games I suppose mate.

I can see they're working hard on that, I'm sure everyone else can. Today just wasn't our day.
I agree with all of what you're saying chico. We were unlucky today, hitting the posts twice didn't help anything. At the same time though you must surely be getting a little annoyed with how poor we have been at home when teams are sitting off of us. It has been going on for a while and is a big contributor to us not being able to move up the league. I'm not calling for his head yet, but I think it's fair for the fans to have a moan about it.
