that seems embarrassingly plausibly.

"please stay forever, stones, lukaku, and barkley, at the club that petulantly shrieks at you, despite years of service, after the first hint that you've inevitably aged"

the way distin's entire career with us has been written off by some was already bad enough

It is hardly the first hint. It has been a while. Also, if he had got his head down and worked at his game instead of turning to social media to tell us how good he is then the fume may have been more measured.

"Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

Only the in-house Tea Party/Tim Truthers deny that he's been dreadful for some time, but how is invective during the actual games helpful?

he got a good farewell though didn't he? I'm sure despite their obvious falling out martinez brought him on for 20 mins or something, and he didn't even pick a fight with any of the crowd for old times sake

would we really risk having an u21 keeper on the bench by pretending howard is injured?! unless there been a big falling out ala distin...

imagine he plays last game of season as a farewell and everyone boo's him lol

No, we wouldnt, if Martinez wanted to rest him, he would rest him, its unlikely he will stay beyond the Summer, so why would he care about upsetting him.

Errrm what Dave, 3 clean sheets in a row before being dropped for Howard, 2 let in during his last 5 league games during that run, no losses in the last 5 he started, Howard came back in the next 4 league games we got 1 draw three losses and conceded 7.

I know you love Martinez mate, but trying to re-write that as an understandable thing for him to do is a bit daft
Yada yada yada.

First off, he came in for the two games that provided us with the crisis games for the whole season when we looked like going into meltdown and let 5 in for the two defeats against Newcastle and Hull. That was the pits of last season right there. The only way was up after that and the next four games he stood in for were good, but dont reveal anything about the form of the GK as bare statistics.

Howard came back in and conceded 16 in the remaining 14 games. Which was much better than his early season stats of 28 goals conceded in 18 games.

Bottom line: Robles didn't do enough to seal the deal on the jersey and Howard came up with some flattering form that papered over the cracks of his demise. Hence the way we started off the season again.

Disagree Howard first two games back after Robles three clean sheets were disastorous for him to be dropped, Chelsea away punched it to the scorer in the 90 minute, Leicester at home flapped twice to draw 2-2 with the then bottom team!
He should have been dropped then!

The Chelsea goal came a long way through the box and through a lot of bodies as I remember. I'm not defending Howard, but his form in the final part of last season starting with that game wasn't the calamity it was before he was injured that season. I can see why Robles was still benched at the start of the season given the finish to the previous one though.

Chelsea goal he bottled it got there and did not punch t out to the touch line, the Leicester game he was so bad it was unbelievable!
