Roberto Martinez discussion

But your blinded to all else but our points tally and our wins ratio.

Short term thinking that's fine. The plan I'd absolutely one of a long-term basis.

You don't understand the prem then. The only long term plan in place is a financial one. If any of our young players raise their performance above the parapet of mediocre whilst we languish in midtable they will be prime targets for top clubs and unless they are academy prospects will most likely leave. Stones has already handed in a transfer request, if he goes you get 40 mill or whatever and spend it on what? Another inconsistent prodigy that will reward you with a payday but not enough good performances to do anything in the league? Or you buy a player of lesser quality. Either way Everton will always be the loser whilst we have a manager who cannot deliver when it matters.

In the real world (not the never ever land where we're patient with these players for 5 years and they reward us with a top 6 finish which is hailed as a World Cup win), for Martinez's plan to work he had to assemble a host of young precocious players of top quality then get in the top 4 before it was ripped apart. He did the first bit superbly but has failed on the second bit. It was a high risk strategy in comparison to Moyes' slow but sure gradual quality increase. Suddenly we had a top striker and unbelievable offensive players but Martinez was too weak to get it together. Now the players will go, we'll get a load of money, and we're back to setting a new plan. Another spin on the youth roulette wheel or let another manager spin it?

This is his 3rd season and he is taking us backwards.
1 win in 11 league games is relegation form, what long term plan are you expecting because the way he is going we could end up in the championship

Seemed to be a lot less dribbling around in our own area and a tad more row z stuff tonight, not pretty but I'll take it if it means clean sheets. Maybe Roberto saw Merson's rant.

Less messing around with it at the back, lines were cleared a lot quicker.

Still wish they wouldn't drop so deep and try pressing more in their final 3rd and the middle of the park.

Has always deserves credit when he gets it right, not that often but his tactics were spot on today
