Fair play to the lad, he played well and despiste my doubts about him i think he should be given a run just to see if he can do this consistantly.

He'd be fine starting for club in a defensive setup, we are not that side. Probably need to invest in someone who would be at least a top 4-5 keeper in the prem.

Did well, didn't come off his line a couple of times that he could of though and conceded one.
Howard would of been massacred today from most on here.

I thought the team selection tonight was significant, the outfield ten was as good as we could put out and yet the manager chose to go with the reserve keeper in a cup semifinal..................I thought it was interesting and maybe significant.

Its just a shame that the defenders who played so well tonight and gave our keeper the support he needs and should have every game but have failed to do so nearly all season. If nothing else Joel should be given this chance just to give everyone some breathing space as it was nice to see people supporting our keeper again.

He played well and is probably the best option this season. Just look at it this way, we play sort of like Arsenal, only without the resources that Arsenal has. Wenger has been trying to hide journeymen keepers in the back for years and their trophy case has almost been as bare as ours the past decade. Keepers are often under siege here. Our fullbacks bomb forward, and hell so do our CBs. Plus at the other end you get face free headers like the one City almost buried today. You need at the least a very good one.

Howard makes loads of quality saves to be fair. People have just stopped seeing them in favor of looking for when he doesn't come off his line or pass the ball out well.
Robles > Howard on today's performance mind, but if that was Howard today he would not be getting the praise Robles is.

He should stay in the team for league games.
