Everton have appointed American Dr Peter Vint as the new head of their academy. He arrives having been head of performance planning for the United States Olympic Committee.

Excuse my ignorance. What's the remit for the Head of Academy, or, in English, what does he do ?

We're taking a scientific approach to our already excellent academy. More specifically were doing it the way the American Olympic Committee- which has had nothing but success- has been doing it for a long time now. Pleased with this appointment.

Fantastic that we can recruit from outside of football. Demonstrates the pull of the Premier League and Everton in particular. Also demonstrates how athletic ability is a key component alongside the technical and tactical aspects of modern football.

Realistically they're both made up titles aren't they. He's just in charge of the academy.
