Roberto Martinez discussion

tells me all I need to know right there. Thanks for that. It means I know where you're coming from and I dont feel any need to persuade you because you are basically someone I couldn't ever relate to in a footballing sense.

I admire your honesty on that though.

Thanks for the backhanded, patronising compliment.

It's patently obvious that you'd rather we had plaudits instead of points. I admire your honesty on that.

It a all about balance, when Moyes was in charge our games were never described as exciting, now Roberto at the helm ,games are .Most pundits wax about Evertons play and how exciting to watch we are.I for one would be glad if it was like watching two coats of paint dry as long as we one something!

I wouldn'y, for the price you pay, I want to see good football. There has to be a balance, if we were playing 1-0 wins/losses every week playing ultra defensive football, barely creating any chances, you would be happy with that? Sorry, but I don't believe you.

Who is available to replace Martinez?

Everyone is available at the right price, with the tv money paying off a manager for somebody isn't a problem. For me right now realistically I would take Flores, AVB, Hughes (dont like him as a person) and Koeman over Martinez right now. De Boer would be a possible wildcard suggestion.

That's just the obvious names im sure their are other managers knocking about the foreign leagues that could also do a better job than 11th with this current squad.

I wasn't being patronising. sheesh! what a sensitive soul. I'm just saying I know your basic footy philosophy and that it's a million miles away from mine. Sorry, didn't see those egg shells there!!!

Fair comment. But Howard out and any other decent PL GK in between those posts increases our chances of victory by a conservative 50%, imo.

That's a little shallow my Friend. Goalkeeper has no control over the number of crosses allow or number of shot conceded. It's those outfield player in front of him that dictates the number of saves he needs to make. The more shots he face, the higher possibility there will be one that flew pass him.

A keeper might not even have a chance to touch the ball if the defensive unit is solid enough.

...lets have it right though: it matters not one iota how many crosses are coming in if you have a GK rooted to his goal line refusing to come out even to his six yard box. A commanding GK (I'd go for Pantilimon as a realistic target) would give all his defenders a bit of a boost to do the the right things themselves and not panic as much.

Surely you wouldn't be happy watching Pullis type tactics each week,,surely you would want to see a progression into playing attractive and entertaining football.
I understand the point you make and an honest answer is no, i wouldn`t like someone like Pulis in charge.
The problem i have is Martinez is diametrically the opposite and it`s also a step too far.
You need a balance between attack and defence.
Martinez has shown himself to be adept at the former and utterly incapable, or more worryingly, oblivious to the latter.

Makes more sense, and as you say all down to opinions
