steady eddie?
Correct mate.

I would divide the forum into Steady Eddies and Nervous Nerys's.

The former camp are consistent and focused in their prognostications; the latter are a bit flakey - one week over the moon with a win and talking up CL places, next week after a loss they're on the floor and flailing out at anyone who cautions against drastic action.

The PL is all over the place mate. You're the only one who doesn't see it though, apparently.

Doesn't matter what money you spend or how well you play, these other 'lesser' clubs now are going to be competitive.

We have to take all this into account when judging our own season. I think most people are gradually seeing that now.
It is all over the place.
I love the way you get shot down all over the place and try another angle.
5 wins all season with this squad is pathetic.
You dress him up all you want but its better to deal in facts and realism mate and not little dreams you have in your head

wasn't Moyes a steady eddie though?

The funniest part of this thread is that almost anyone would have taken 6pts off top 4 from 17 games and a league cup semi.

Those that wouldnt and were expecting top 4 with a REALLY POOR squad overall+ 5 kids and a few top players clearly werent realistic.

I think most are being cry babies about possibly losing players, wouldnt like to see you in the trenches...bunch of Pistone's :)

If we continue to display current form we won't make 60 points (the arbitrary points total you've assigned). What needs to change second half of the season? Why have we continued in the same form as last season for the first 17 games of this one?
Exactly. That's why it's a reasonable total to have set. It's not an easy one to reach, but it's one Martinez has to hit to reach one of the two league/cup targets I'd have expected to make this season acceptable.

Spot on. It's not a great position, but by no means a bad one that we're in.

You know its not going to happen.
Your mask is slipping and the plotters await your signing

Anyone noticing a trend between sides that defend well (Spurs, Palace, Watford) are right up there whilst the sides that play tippy tappy stuff but shaky at the back (us, Kopites, Southampton, swansea) are faultering.
We should primarily play counter with our squad.... Maybe one of the best squads in the league to do that... Mirallas, Del, Barkley, Rom, are all killer on the break have macca and baz sitting deep is when they're at their best too... Unless you have amazing consistent players that only the top teams can afford you can't consistently unlock defenses.... Counter attacking is inherently more solid at the back too

Hell, look at Jurgen Klopp. Our draw against Watford doesn't look so bad now.
We could say our draw against Bournemoth was ok, when you look at what they have gone on to do, in reality it was terrible.
I think we are not fulfilling the potential we have in our squad, but the potential we have is built on young players and that can backfire or take time.
I can understand people's frustrations over results, I think most of are frustrated. I think what I struggle with is you can see what RM is trying to build, he is completely overhauling the club in terms of building a great Acadmy, buying young players with great potential and also giving young players the platform to show how good they are.
I sit in the camp that enjoys what RM is trying to build, I love the style of football and I think the both will/may reap rewards. I would love instant success, but guess supporting wrong team for that

Add in Mori and Galloway getting a heap of games and certain players developing UNDER MARTINEZ to now be rated as highly as they are also....

6 points is what, us beating man utd....
