Roberto Martinez discussion

Top 8 is going nowhere and still an underwhelmed position. This club need Euro.

If you think finishing 7th/8th is worth sacking the manager over, fair enough. I believe in giving managers a good amount of time, with conditions, obviously, as long as they show potential. Martinez has shown bucket-loads in and I think over time could have us back performing at the levels we were in his first season.

If you don't like the posts just ignore them. You are not obliged to respond if you do not want to. I'm sure there are plenty of people that look but don't respond. What is wrong with someone having a view point and sticking to it? I may say it is 'tedious' to hear so much rubbish spouted by some people about our current position. On the whole I tend to ignore it. Maybe you should with Davek.

If you don't like my view, just ignore it... See the contradiction?

Moderators also don't have the ignore function.

It's not good for a forum to have a single member monopolising a thread with posting frequency. It's good to see different views...

as a blance..

lukaku,deuofeu brought in by Martinez

stones and barkley brought on by martinez

Out of the first team.

Good - Lukaku, McCarthy, Deulofeu.

Average - Lennon, Cleverley, Barry.

Poor - McGeady, Kone, Alcaraz (gone).

Jury still out - Robles, Besic, Funes Mori, Galloway.

That's all ifs and buts. What would you say if things did improve.........Martinez in?
I have been consistent in my view. I wouldn't care if you were the manager and your pet hamster chief scout. If you were winning games on the regular I'd back you, like I have said if we have what would now need to be a massive up turn in form (regular wins, even back to back for the first time in 8 months) I will be happy as I support Everton and want them to win.

Your last part doesnt make any sense. "Over time"? Why cant he get us there over the last 18 months? This is essentially his team now, playing how he wants.

I wouldn't rely totally on one player changing our fortune or as a reason for our current misfortune mate. Because what will you say with Jagielka back if our results don't improve?

Their were Evertonians all over the place last season saying...when Barkley is back, when MaCarthy is back and when Stones is back we will do this that and the other.....we never did.

Also Jagielka' form wasn't as sparkling when he got injured as it was earlier in the season, he got hammered after the UTD game.

I think, in hindsight, a more experienced 3rd choice would have been a better buy than Mori. I do think we've been unlucky to lose Jagielka for 2 months though.

Jagielka has been crucial to our best defensive performances this season, such as Southampton and Chelsea. Our defence is much better with him in it, most of the time. We're getting no clean sheets at the moment because of daft mistakes, such as Mori's yesterday and Stones and Mori's vs Sunderland for example and it's costing us points. That's why I think him coming back in will make a big difference, if not straight away then definitely over the course of the next few months. We haven't had our first choice back line out once this season and have often had 3 of them out injured.

So Watford and palace pulling away from us now...next two games are must wins and will define our season, and the future of the manager I think. He needs to get the players motivated

You utterly despise Martinez and the simple fact is that wanting him fired now reflects weirdly on the fanbase.

Everton stand to lose more than they would gain by firing him now.

Haha, nice try...

He's not going anywhere anytime soon.

I know last season I said review him in December, but we'd achieve nothing replacing him now - besides, it would never happen.

He's rightly under scrutiny now. I'm still hopeful and expectant he'll come good, we just need a couple of wins on the bounce, confidence will flow and we'll be flying.

Bournemouth, Palace, Norwich, Leicester was a great opportunity to build that momentum and I honestly think this stretch of games will prove decisive for the Club's longer term ambitions.

Martinez was spot on mid week in saying the next 8 weeks are vital, he recognises it - days after I was saying it on here...

It's not defending well at all. We could do with getting our first choice defence out for the first time this season.

The bottom line is 7th with a Europa place this season then I say he worths staying.

Three seasons is a good time to review how it goes although I think he is going nowhere under the current board.

Under the current run, can you see this team gets even 8th? We are struggling to win games for over a year even at Goodison.

I don't particular like the word potential. Rodwell had potential. If Martinez can't sort out the defence he will never succeed.

To be fair we have not seen a lot of those in the match day squads outside of a set starting XI such as Lennon over the last 4 matches. Most game time has been given to a del/Ross/Kone behind Rom
