Roberto Martinez discussion

I am wondering even if we had signed Yarmolenko or Dann plus a younger keeper would the results have been any different. Is perhaps RM out of his depth and we are now seeing that? Does he have managerial limitations regarding strategy, tactics or general play?

The majority of the squad is down to him signing or bringing players up, so if they were his choice why are we failing to caoitalise. Ranieri joined Leicester in the summer and is having a good season but RM in his first season here enjoyed some success does that make him a poorer manager? Ranieri is more experienced than RM in top flight football bur RM has several years of PL football so what is missing?.

It effectively has been two and a half seasons under his control, IMO regardless of RM saying we are building this is not good enough right now. If RM is building when does it stop and bear fruit? Sorry it is a rubbish of an excuse for the poor results this season and last. Look at the clubs he has managed exactly what success has their been apart from FA Cup?

As for calls for him to leave now that would be wrong, at the very minimum needs to stay in place to the season end.

Well if you want to break out of that mode you'll have to wait for an oligarch to pump hundreds of millions into this club.

The alternative is to point at the manager and wonder why CL football isn't on offer after a meagre net spend that's matched by giants like Stoke.
...or Leicester?

Imagine if Crystal Palace had a £25-30 million goalscorer rather than Wickham they would be top 4, we have what they have in quality wingers and a creative midfielder but they have theirs built on a solid back 4.

Are people really going to tell me Dann and Delaney are better than Stones and Jagielka/Mori? It's simply down to defensive organisation and it's not good enough.

WTF are you concentrating on me for?

So what you're saying is that you dont actually feel as strongly as you appear to on the issue, it's just that you want to trip me up?

I find that bizarre, tbh. Still, if it's what you want to do.....
don't you start straw manning mate

Just watched Martinez in the official post match presser...he's all at sea. He has no solution. Sorry @davek, he is a middling manager...nothing more nothing less. I , like you, think he has qualities. But to me, he's just a good people-manager...whereas you think he's a fabulous football manager. I don't know how much real life experience you have had in choosing managers of operation: I've had a fair bit and I suggest if you presented me with your CV toward becoming an HR specialist in my company, I wouldn't hire you.

Sadly, its exactly what Martinez is. Unfortunately the reality is probably that we'll have waste away the next half decade before reality sinks in at board level

Well Yearh there is. But the more seasons going it's probably not going to happen there's no consistency atall
Here's an idea (not just for you), why dont we all judge the season at the end of it? I say that because there's absolutely no chance of this manager being shifted out of his job this season and it's a complete waste of time for those wishing for it.

IMO, by then we'll be comfortable top half and there'll be no issue whatsoever.

He's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Our regime don't have any genuine ambition, they need a yes man. Bobby's never going to rattle any cages is he...

As I've said for some time - a second consecutive underwhelming season and I'd want him gone. Last season was too soon, he deserved another crack.

I said last week the next 7 weeks are vital. Bobby this week said the next 8 weeks are crucial.

He's not wrong. He needs to find some consistency, and quick. This team is capable of top 4, and will flourish with confidence. We just need two or three wins in the bounce and we'll be set. Failing the manager getting that, I don't think we can bemoan Lukaku, Stones etc looking to leave in the summer. We need to demonstrate something.

We're also 3 games from a cup win.

I know last season I said review him in December, but we'd achieve nothing replacing him now - besides, it would never happen. Lets review him at the end of the season, if we finish the second half of the season as the first, I'd want him out.

And if not, sack him?
