Right ok so if it's his squad and as you say " we play attacking football " does that mean we can't defend? Surely there's a balance and you have to start from the back. That's were you build the foundations

Absolutely. We can't win without clean sheets. The defence is all over the place. And sometimes the defence put themselves in danger by not doing the simple thing which is clearing the ball. They are asked to keep pocession but a bit over sometimes.

If we beat Newcastle and then Stoke, you KNOW the mood on here will be party time.

That's why I dont take all the whinging seriously. It's utter kneejerkism.

I say again: 60+ point finish + a very good cup run = worthy season whilst the rebuilding continues apace.

...and you can bet your bottom dollar the board of this club will see it exactly like that. I wouldn't rule out a contract extension if those targets are hit.

Oh, it's newcastle AND stoke now?

How's it 'kneejerkism' exactly, when the issues have been painfully visible over the last five or so league games?

The thrust of the current conversation is less toward ditching Martinez mid season...that just won't happen . But this is a Martinez thread and I'll tell you this : he's all at sea with this talent, he's out of his depth. @davek has ingenuous (naïve) belief, that RM will grow into the job...but davek's living in a football universe a generation in the past. We don't have time on our side. It's the sad reality of instant gratification life in these monied times. Everton FC is not a nursery for managers
Really? You must have slept through the last decade and a half of this club's history then. Smith (one of the worst Everton managers ever) given 5 season; Moyes (an utter dullard of a manager) given 11 seasons. If you think Martinez isn't (at least) looking at seeing out his current contract you're living in cloud cuckoo land.

Which we removed any incentive from by giving him a new one directly after his first season. Chronic board level planning.

Yup spot on. Stones example yesterday dilly dallying with the ball. Why they don't row z it is the managers instructions. Teams press and we're screwed why he doesn't change the approach is baffling.clean sheets win games or more so a chance to.

His squad and he's getting the best out of them because they are set up to attack. Get another manager in and see Deulofeu with his wings clipped and Lukaku chasing down balls in the channels. It'll all fall apart and the same whingers wanting the manager out now will be bemoaning the fact that we're playing hoofball.

What are you basing that assertion on?

Why? Because you know as well as I do with a win we'd be a place or two up the table and those posters who are concerned now will be looking to kick on to Europe. That's why. It is the way of most supporters. Fickleness is part of the DNA.

not me mate.
I've always maintained (for about the past year now) that Martinez is a pleasant enough different flavour of a bang average manager...and given our resources and his mind set we are were we are for just that reason.
It won't get any better.

Or get some one in who knows how to attack when required and defend properly when required
THAT doesn't take Oligarchial millions, it just takes luck and or judgement
more chance of the hundreds of millions

*changes metaphors

Under Moyes we were a fighter could box just a little.
Under Martinez were are boxers who can't fight...and can't go the distance
Under Moyes we were a punch drunk middleweight throwing hopeful lumbering shots and then hanging onto the ropes; under Martinez we're a nimble bantamweight jabbing and scoring.
