Ok, so we go and win at Newcastle. It's all blue skies is it?

We have a team handily placed to get further up the top half of the table and playing some very nice football. We're possibly looking at a cup final around the corner.

You want to judge what's going on beyond the last game? Then judge the situation on that.

That does not win games, may contribute but it is goals we need to win and score more than we concede. Just a few wins in the last 6 weeks or so and the fans would not be booing.

With our defense do people really think we can do city over 2 legs? We can't win back to back games against bournmouth and Norwich ffs. Once reality hits in and we are out the cup and sat in 11th maybe the fans will wake up.

Here's an idea (not just for you), why dont we all judge the season at the end of it? I say that because there's absolutely no chance of this manager being shifted out of his job this season and it's a complete waste of time for those wishing for it.

IMO, by then we'll be comfortable top half and there'll be no issue whatsoever.

But comfortable top half if that's all to be achieved with this squad it's sad isn't it? We're light years behind teams of and on the pitch and until this tool sorts the defence out it will continue. Yes he's manager for now Dave but if it continues over time he won't be.

He's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Our regime don't have any genuine ambition, they need a yes man. Bobby's never going to rattle any cages is he...

As I've said for some time - a second consecutive underwhelming season and I'd want him gone. Last season was too soon, we deserved another crack.

I said last week the next 7 weeks are vital. Bobby this week said the next 8 weeks are crucial.

He's not wrong. He needs to find some consistency, and quick. This time is capable of top 4, and will flourish with confidence. We just need two or three wins in the bounce and we'll be set. Failing the manager getting that, I don't think we can bemoan Lukaku, Stones etc looking to leave in the summer. We need to demonstrate something.

We're also 3 games from a cup win.

I know last season I said review him in December, but we'd achieve nothing replacing him now - besides, it would never happen. Lets review him at the end of the season, if we finish the second half of the season as the first, I'd want him out.

Mate, we lost yesterday - it as the first loss in nine games. It's a massive over-reaction. What's happening here is the frustration at having such a good team creating chances and not taking them as much as conceding too easily.

You're right in that first sentence: the owners will see RM as a manager who'll guarantee the PL position. For that reason he wont be going anywhere at the end of the season (and neither should he if this squad building is continuing to bear fruit and we get a top half place and a cup run in).

  • One defeat in nine games - How many wins?
  • Comfortable mid-table slot to move off from -in which direction? (See Jan fixtures)
  • Cup final one step away -After we beat Man City.....
  • Best bunch of young players in the PL - For how long?

......

Nothing to see here

Nonsense.

Everything I said in there, I said before Yesterday...

As for stats, don't make me dig out some stats to slap you about with...

@davek's prediction before the game

Big win for us. 3-0.

  • They will be taken seriously (half the success they've had is through opposition underestimating them)
  • We've got the sort of mobile defence that will snuff out their threat on the break
  • They're missing two of their five ever-presents - Drinkwater and Huth. Drinkwater, in particular, will be a massive miss as he's the pivot of that side from defence to attack
  • They're really not that good. The defence looks suspect, and with Huth absent it'll only get more flakey.
  • We are VERY tough to beat, as the form guide will tell you.
  • We are in the middle of a run of form that creates lots of chances and sooner or later they'll again (S'land/Villa) end up being taken and burying some team.
We'll win this for sure. The only question is by how much. Leicester are coming down to earth with a massive bump tomorrow.

@deipnosophists response

pipe down mate

His squad and he's getting the best out of them because they are set up to attack. Get another manager in and see Deulofeu with his wings clipped and Lukaku chasing down balls in the channels. It'll all fall apart and the same whingers wanting the manager out now will be bemoaning the fact that we're playing hoofball.

Why? The problem remains there. You mean one win can sort everything? No back to back league win this season may I remind you. Like I say he needs to get top 6 (Europa place)this season which is an indication to show he is indeed capable of providing stability to Everton, as a top tie PL club. I don't see how could you take any positiveity and pretend everything is ok should we finish midtable again this season. Great players like Lukaku and Stones will definitely leave if we don't achieve something special soon. We won't be able to keep them and build a team.

We can get a result in one game but you're right, over two legs they're going to have a field day in one of those ties. We'll be an absolute dream to play against in comparison to the teams that shut up shop and make it difficult for them.

Yet we have only won 5 games and only play for 45 minutes.
Our players are unfit and mentally weak.

Far from it. And given how we've been of late, I doubt we'll get much there, tbh. A win there changes sod-all for me. Just another releqation candidate beaten; no spin on it - that's how I'll see it. We're alright beating scumderland and villa....we should anyway ffs. But drawing with watford & getting turned over by loysturrr at home?

Yeah. Nice football hasn't been getting us up the table, has it? We've had that team all season long. Cup final? That tri-handled chamberpot that even a fourth division side can reach the final of? Gotta beat schitteh first - and that looks abar as likely as me bummin' a 25 year-old Raquel Welch on the international space station in 10 minutes time. Not interested in that until we play in it. We play the majority of our matches in the league - and that's what matters.

You want to judge what's going on beyond the last game? Then judge the situation on that.

I can and I have, thanks. More fool you if you can't (Or more likely, refuse) to see there's zero killer instinct in that side. It's always 'jam tomorrow'...
