Roberto Martinez discussion

If Moyes came back and fused with Martinez to become Martinoyes we'd win the league.

I said before, not entirely in jest, that Moyes should be invited to take up our defensive coach duties. Not that he will be of course, those aspects of the game like scrapping, pressing, tackling and taking a yellow card for the team to break up the flow are all rather nasty and untoward and not part of real football. Great when we have the ball, next to useless when we don't.

the main everton forum. Listen mate, I've had very good people report to me, very smart and competent people...and I know when I see the 1%s...Martinez isn't. I like the man and I'd keep him in the Everton fold, but he isn't what you purport him to be
I purport him to be a very good manager who's capable of getting us a trophy. He did it at Wigan so sure as eggs is eggs he can replicate that with our players.

Have a little faith. This is a lovely squad he's built, even his detractors admit that. I think it will click, others don't. Personally, I couldn't be arsed getting into Europe unless it's the CL, which was highly unlikely even before a ball was kicked this season. Our most obtainable goal is a domestic cup and I believe Roberto has built the squad to win one. At the end of the season, I'll reassess if I have to.

I guess you're right with that post, and the bolded bit in particular. It's just a bit painful.

It will all be easier after the next pint!

I think that's the way many fans think, but you know as well as I do there's no stomach for cutting Roberto loose by the owners. Rightly too, on two levels:

1/ Stevie Wonder can see we're building something very good here with this team. There'll be reversals yes, but that is to be expected and the board will accept that without question.
2/ This season above all others you have to stay in the PL for the cash about to come on stream. There's going to be no appetite for change if we're bumping about mid-table as we are right now for a new manager who could get it completely wrong and plunge us into the Championship.

We're actually well placed - you're not daft, you know it too. We've had a fairly up and down first half of the season but we find ourselves with a very good set of players playing great footy and a cup final to maybe prepare for.

In short: crisis, what crisis?
You're ridiculous. I actually can't take you seriously anymore.

At least admit his shortcomings.

You're too far gone to ever backtrack on your Pro-Martinez agenda.

Our defenders all need to be able to play the possession game with the midfield under RM - if you're referring to Jags then he is as bad as the rest in that respect. If you're saying that having Jags in the side last 4 games would have made a difference I'm not convinced.
that's what I was getting at it. It may not have had a large difference today but I think it would've against bouremouth. not to mention he works a a bit better with Stones as they've got more experience playing along side each other. Stones and Mori haven't been playing together for very long and it shows sometimes. CB's are all about partnerships.

Just so I have this right. You're discrediting me by vaulting me in suggesting a manager that has THAT Newcastle squad/team the same points we are behind the 'holy grail' of 5th placed Man UTD?

Bit of a paradox.

Great vaulting on a par with the other day, at least this didn't take you about an hour.

So you'd take McClaren as a replacement for Martinez Ian?

Come on man, man up and admit it or not.

Yep under this board there's no way he's getting sacked. I do think another poor finish in the league though could be his undoing with the fans.

If he wins a cup though mate, well that's a different story altogether because that could be the catalyst for driving us forward.

He's certainly not immune to criticism though mate which I think is some people's gripe because when they slag him off everyone defends him too much. Sometimes we all just have to agree he's been a tit, picked the wrong side, wrong subs, hasn't set us up balance wise but we move on.

Unbelievably we are still only a couple of wins away from 4th but I've pretty much given up on the league anyway as I can't see anything changing unless we finally string 2 wins together. It's the league cup which is priority for me personally.
