Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Especially when Man Utd have done pretty much what some on here are clamouring for - sold all their experienced backups and spent the money on a few expensive young players putting them under huge pressure to perform, with academy kids thrown in at the deep end when injuries occur.

Might work in the long term but lot of ugly football and dubious results in the short term.

Or it might ruin or seriously delay the development of many of the youngsters

Doesn't matter how much he loves Howard surely he can see he needs replacing

It's like me having a business and my best mate working for me and making f-up after f-up and costing me money
And me sticking by him because we are best mates

Martinez is paid a lot of money to do the best for Everton
If the penny hasn't dropped with Howard it better had soon

Or the fans will turn on him

What's with

Soz abar me
Honestly, I didn't think to check whether he was Ruskie or Ukranian (soon to be Ruskie any way)
If it all comes to this, I'll send my full apologies in a letter or commission a song by
Tubey

Born in St Petes mate, think that means he will have dual cit anyway so spot on calling him Russian

I think it's a myth about no value in January mate

Just checking under Martinez's 2 January windows he's been in charge we brought in McGeady - who was a major long term target of Martinez and loaned in Traore, Lennon
Got rid of Eto'o, got rid of jelavic, got rid of Heitenga

So incoming he hasn't been that active with but he has shipped a fair few established players out there.

As for quality players not being available and fee's being not worth it.
a list of players we have bought in January
John Stones - 3m
Nikica Jelavic - 5.5m and for that seasons impact was immense and we made a profit on him
Darron Gibson - 1m
Seamus Coleman - 60k
Tim Howard - 2m
Stubbs - free
Beattie - 6m

loans
Pienaar
Donovan
Arteta

some good players there that had an impact for us, christ Lennon last season possibly saved us from a relegation fight

I think Martinez sees tremendous value in January, but primarily with acquiring young talent and bedding them in. They'd be too green to play if brought in during the summer, but some can come in over the winter and be ready for an appearance next season. I think he probably does see the higher priced/established players as overpriced, but not like he won't take a chance if he likes it.

I thought Mori would be that guy but theres only really Shawcross in the league. Even Zouma seems to have turned soft.

I just really, really wish we had a hard knock, nasty centre back.

That, plus a good goalkeeper and a second good striking option, and we'd be fantastic.

We have 20m of assets we could lose without feeling it too much (Naismith, Mirallas, Gibson would easily bring in nearly 20m), and filling three said positions wouldn't cost much more than that money plus a little bit more.

What's that got to do with Everton?
If you don't like it don't read mate

It's a social contract; grammar and punctuation aren't simply things that mean middle-aged women force upon you as a lad, but they're useful tools in clear and respectful communication with others. Next you'll be telling me that replying above the quote is entirely reasonable because your Nokia 5150 makes it hard to scroll down below the quote.
