Roberto Martinez discussion

A lot of them are yes. Are you?

We've had 70 odd pages of tedium over a young team making mistakes through inexperience. If they took just one of those abundant chances in the first half yesterday then it would have been a different game. Those chances didn't fall to Martinez.

But seventy pages of mostly tosh over an away draw where for half of it any same minded neutral was admiring an exciting young Everton team seemingly on the up.

We're not going anywhere fast with the current ownership of the club so why the unnecessary fume against the manager trying to build something sustainable?

I'll tell you why because they're a symptom of modern footie bells who are more damaging to a club in our position than a help.

So plenty of us on here will occasionally nip in and try to put that point across. Unfortunately the only way you can get through is by matching the tithead behaviour. Apologies for that.

I am in my thirties, but I don't think that matters. With regards yesterdays game, the first half was great against a team that is battling relegation. But we had a further 45 minutes to play before the game ended, and the second half was AWFUL. I don't agree that we in any way deserved to win that game. Everton are supposed to have ambitions for top four, so is it really surprising to read people express dissatisfaction about such results on an internet message board forum?

You don't get it do you? Even those who are trying to provide balance against the Geordie biffs on here are critical of Martinez but they have a reasoned approach to it. Could things have gone better in the last few games? Of course.

The tedious agenda against him every time there's an adverse result is the problem. If you can't see that then you're probably part of the problem. It's out of touch with the majority of the fans for reason and it's not because you're a pioneer or have dead boss standards lar. It's usually because those doing it are morbid tits.

Your trying to make out that disagreeing with the deluded notion that Martinez is the second coming on an internet message board is the same level of gobshyte behaviour as what goes on in Newcastle. We are constantly being told that this is the best squad in 30 years, if that is the case, then shouldn't we be expecting a finish beyond mid-table, or should we be content with operating at the same level as Stoke and Watford?

I'm fine dealing with reality, which is that the squad and set up is way off top four standard, and will need a considerable amount of investment in order for that to happen. But I struggle with being told that we are progressing in a way in which we have never progressed before, only for us not to progress at all and remain in midtable.

If we concede from corners and the players need 'practice, practice and practice some more' and a new defensive coach. Doesn't this equally apply to the bagful of chances we missed in the last few game, so the players need 'practice, practice and more practice' and a new attacking coach?

I will never forget this defending from a set piece.

Liverpool vs Everton FA CUP Semi final 2:1 (Andy Carroll)

Managers should come under the microscope about how the team are performing. And Martinez should be no different than Moyes, Smith, Walker and eventually Royle and Howie in his second and third spells and Catterick when we sold Bally.

And I get that some didn't want Martinez from the start and that's fine. But we have waited a very long time for us to play this sort of football that we are serving up at the moment. But the question is will it bring us 'success'? By that I mean win us a cup or three and get top 4. In 10 years at Goodison Moyes delivered 1 CL spot and no silverware. A crime. Yes he turned the club around and within 3 years got us CL - a great achievement and finished 5th and 6 a good few times. But he couldn't build on it with his type/style of football. That doesn't mean at times that we didn't play football that was pleasing on the eye but it was all to fleeting and never sustainable.

That semi final defeat against LFC was the last straw for me with Moyes. We couldn't even defend a set piece, with some of the tallest players in the league, even though we were supposed to have 'practiced, practiced and practiced even more'. I gave Moyes the credit he deserved for the service he gave our club when he left but was glad to see the back of his style of football. Couldn't wait for someone to come in and play football the way it should be played. Martinez has been a breathe of fresh air. And while he, and the team are not the finished article, I have belief in what he is doing will win us things.

Your point is confused (you're not alone in here so don't worry) so I hope you allow me to paraphrase a little.

You seemingly conclude that you're upset because everyone says we have a top four squad and that you don't believe that and instead you think we need investment.

So why you being a hero in here instead of the Board Thread

And that it's alright to moan on an Internet forum if you feel like. Agreed! But expect to be called out if that moaning is excessive, out of touch and makes you look more like a Geordie than an Evertonian.
