What positions need strengthening still ?

There also has to be something in buying in a young striker in the £8m to £12m range. Someone that's maybe scored goals abroad or in the Championship but Martinez sees something in to take a risk that they can progress further. Beyond the goalkeeper the weak area is up front if Rom is injured or suspended or just plain needs a break.

Not sure where i described Kone as a left winger... I stated a LW should be brought in to compete with Kone. Clearly both would be competing for a single position.

Thanks for your tactical analysis of the DM position(s). You're missing your calling from ESPN.

You realize Kone isn't actually playing a 'winger' position, right? Do you actually watch us play?

It's like folks saying we play two DMs...we clearly do not...but I reckon the 'formation' says we do even though the product on the field is obviously different.

Keeper is must but unlikely to happen in January.
We can probably live without a left sided with cleverly fit and mirralles, kone and at a push mcgeady other options. I think it depends on whether the likes of Dowell are anywhere near the first team. Yarmalenko aside I'd save the money until next summer.

Another striker is surely where Martinez must be looking to add depth, maybe even a lo and deal?

Could definitely see us going for a Traore-esque loan again in January - hopefully with better results! Though it depends on the progress of Rodriguez, who I think will prove useful towards the back-end of the season.

Other than that and potentially shipping McGeady out, can't see much business in January (depending on injuries of course).

In January, a young back up right back, a young back up striker (Austin?), and (I wish) a new goalkeeper. We're well stocked out wide. The forward could well be a loan like.

Goal Keeper. Playmaker. Only two needed in the first team. Rest are backup players but there'd always be something missing there. Think defence has got more than enough cover.
