Aiden McGeady

this is incorrect, lennons not in great form at the moment...this does not equate to him being as useless as mcgeady

Indeed it does.

Lennon had a few decent enough games toward the end of last season but thus far in this one he had looked like the headless chicken we saw running around White Hart Lane for a decade and lead to many people, myself included, not particularly wanting to sign him up full time.

McGeady is a much more skillful player IMO.

I am not saying he is great or owt.....just that he is a better player than Lennon.

Skill wise then arguably McGeady is a better player. The problem is that during his Everton career he has only sporadically applied this ability.

For every goal against Leicester, which was exceptional, you've arguably got a handful of woeful performances such as against Barnsley.

Personally, he far too often attempts numerous step overs without an actual end product. He rarely actually beats a man or offers other options.

He's simply far too inconsistent for me to consider him a regular or valid option for our starting XI, or even the bench.

He might be able to score some amazing goals; he may also have the ability to provide lovely crosses; the problem is he just doesn't do it enough.

Lennon, while less talented, offers more to the side of a consistent basis. He harries opposition, opens up space for others and defends as well.

I'm not saying that's what we want, just that I think it's a more suitable option. Really they're neither perfect but that's the situation we're in.

While Lennon might not be playing as well he did on loan, nor is he as flashy as McGeady, he at least doesn't go completely AWOL on the pitch. When Lennon is on the pitch he is always working hard and trying to make an impact, I can't really think of any game where Lennon has had a complete shocker. I can think of many times McGeady has let the team down, with and without the ball.

I think McGeady, ability wise, is one of our best players tbh. Now assuming you haven't blocked me upon reading the previous sentence, let me elaborate by sdsaying while I genuinely think that, he's proven that he can't make the best of his ability on a consistent basis. Even for a winger, his decision making is incredibly poor.

Perhaps if he'd joined the prem after leaving Celtic he'd be a more well-rounded player by now but he wasted years playing at too comfortable a level in Russia.

Joke to even compare !

I'm not sure how you can say this matey. Lennon can't do step overs or those little jinks that McGeady does, but it's a redundant point when McGeady fails to deliver any functionality when he plays. His short-game is beyond terrible and his picks up far too many injuries, most of which I'd hazard a guess comes from his lazy demeanour and further his inability to look after himself off the pitch a la Gibson.

If you compare him to a, granted, more technically limited player who brings one of the best full backs in the league out of himself, uses his energy to keep us more steady and throws in 5 goals and a handful of assists to boot, I know which one I'd rather have. Itd be the latter and he's called Aaron Lennon.

Well you are entitled to your opinion, "matey".

But what the heck.

Does it really matter which one of the two is best?

They are two average enough squad players who should be nowhere near the team when Gerald and Mirallas are fit and on form.

I'd agree with that.

And I would guess from the speech marks you've taken exception to "matey".

I meant nothing by it at all, just means the same as 'mate' which you probs wouldn't have objected to.

Chill your beans. Mate.

Hope that's better for you xxx

I would suggest you "chill your own beans" matey.

Getting all precious and defensive like that ain't cool.

:p
