The changing of the guard...

Yes.....you wouldn't have believed you were at the same match lol

Alan Irvine was great on the right wing that day.
Was just going through that team in my head. Irvine was great. Seem to remember Heath starting to really look like a player too. Not gonna cheat and Google in case it's totally different.

One of my first away games that. Tore them apart. Also remember the TV highlights mainly showing last ten mins so it looked like they had been on top. Not much changed there.
Bit like the 85 charity shield when we won 2-0 but could have been 7
And you could hear the frustration in John Motson's voice because Utd could get out of their half

Yes....let's have a go without googling :)

Neville in goal, I think.

John Bailey, Mark Higgins, Kevin Ratcliffe, and probably John Barton.

Irvine, Peter Reid, Andy King (I am guessing) and I do believe Terry Curran played on the left wing.

Up front Adrian Heath and Sharpie.

I am open to correction from those with better memories than mine :)

Who was the commentator in the 83 game? Remember calling him for everything when he said something about their goal being a dream finish

I have a feeling it wasn't Nev in goal. Can't come up with an option though.
Good shout with Higgins. Must have been one of his last big games but definitely remember him.
Was Reid playing? Didn't seem to play much till following season and a great cameo in league cup match. Think Mcmahon was still around but he may have been out of this game cos don't remember him. Sheedy would have been at the club too but don't think he was playing.
So sharp, Higgins heath and Irvine all I am going with confidently. Can't remember Ratcliffe but no alternative suggestion.

Oh Bailey too. Definitely picturing him

Seen too many good young prospects go nowhere over the years to get over excited but there's a positive feel to the players coming through.
Everyone to post so far gets a like though for avoiding the most sickening phrase to creep into modern football lingo, s**l o* v***e

Probably woke up with cobwebs in my head but can't work out which phrase we're talking about.

You know what, you right.

Nev went out on loan after the Glen Keeley Derby.....I had mixed the dates up.

I knew that fuasco wax in '82 but it would have been the same season.

So it must have been Jim Arnold in goal.

I am pretty sure Sod Off McMahon was gone by then, though.

Jim Arnold! Would have taken me a few years of guessing before got that.
If it was after that derby then Stevens was a definite at right back. Don't think Brian borrows ever recovered

I've had a right good go at this.

It's great that we are phasing out the older players and bringing younger ones in.

Even if they are as good as the older player they will have decent sell on value so we're better off with them playing than not.
