Computer games.

I deffo reckon brennan or bizzarro is gonna back down and admit they are wrong
Are you new mate?

Anyway looks like witcher iii started the phase of old tech being obsolete a few years in. After @bizzaro tips I've been doing more research and 4k definitely is a separator, and noticeable at 2k, for framerate and stability.

I'm now looking at securing a 980 ti hybrid card and a current i5 or i7 (though it appears 4th gen also do well but theyre basically the same price over here (i5 230 bucks, i7 350), which also brings ddr4 only (little difference to performance right now) so basically need an entire new computer, hard drives aside. Even though I could buy a 2500k I'd still need the GPU and a new mobo so the bulk of my spends would still happen.

Note that with my 6950 I've been able to play whatever I've wanted for a long time, so if the next one up lasts me 6 years its not a disaster

I built mine in 2013. Just upgraded cooling. Ramped up the i7 OC and upgraded GPU. I'm good for 18months unless I want a Skylake or a cannonlake processor in 2016/2017 along with mobo.

your psu is 750w and has a 7 year warranty.

So you're all good.

Just keep talking.

Ignore the bozos on here who think they own the forum. @Dylan is into PC tech too so its all good.

I'm running an ivy bridge i7 3770k at 4.5GHz OC max temp 48 C with my H110i gtx.

I use more power but I get more than adequate performance as that chip was the fastest released ivy bridge. Top end consumer level. Good for 4 years.
