1 - Is it good to have a player who doesn't really want to be here?

He'll probably apologise and knuckle down now, and in a few months all will be forgotten. Lots of examples of players coming back from handing in requests (Gerrard, Rooney, and our own Southall & Jeffers) and remaining valued/liked members of the team.

He's too good to sulk so it won't affect his performance.

Young people do silly things & get badly advised but it doesn't have to define them. We all make mistakes.

Yeah, the rejection of a transfer request and subsequent "he needs looking after" comments suggest to me that Stones isn't 100% convinced with his own transfer request and Everton have seen strong evidence of his agent pulling strings.

This 'saga' has just served to highlight the warped vision most people have of modern football. They just expect all clubs to be subservient to Chelsea, City, United and to a lesser extent, Arsenal and maybe Liverpool. It doesn't make sense to them that other clubs have their own motivations, want to build their own success, and can't comprehend clubs putting their ambitions ahead of a players wishes! Do they not realise that we're all competitors in a sport?!

Are they happy to see the same old teams competing for the same trophies every year? If it wasn't for the quality of football on display from the likes of Barca and Bayern, I'd never watch the Champions League - it's like groundhog day every season.

On the face of it great news that Bill is on board here too. The length of the "statement" though does makes me wonder whether it was penned in response to an ultimatum from Roberto

But to make this kind of statement is rare for the club. The board have balls finally after all these years.
