Hes only 20/21 and its a big decision , lets lay off the lad , end of the day its only football and its unhealthy to treat a KID this way poor lads head must be up his backside

Martinez has shown his mettle here, taking the board along with him as well. If Stones is not sold this window, it may even be that Everton have brought about a significant change in the business of football, a new era when clubs with less money do not have to give up promising players to the wealthy elite.
Highly highly unlikely. We've had to work pretty hard to resist a media onslaught, a constant unsettling job and a transfer request from a player most would consider pretty level headed. We aren't even out of the woods yet.

hang on, hang on! john stones could REFUSE to play, do a sterling or suarez and yet force a move out. i dont think this is the end. not untill tuesday night anyway!

at the moment, the chairman AND the manager are standing firm. this story probably still has legs yet.

i dont want to sound negative. im just going on whats happened with other transfer saga's like this in the past.

well done EVERTON for standing firm tho. credit was credits due.

This sets out a warning to all our other players and their money grabbing agents who are on long term deals (Lukaku). If we want you to stay you'll be staying until we say otherwise.

Don't even bother with a transfer request!

This is the only solution this late in the window. We keep him for another year, he's motivated to play well to get his big move and impress for the Euros.

Ideally he would want to stay but that isn't the case unfortunately. Hopefully he goes to someone other than Chelsea next year for significantly more than the bids received. Now, back to strengthening our squad...

On the face of it great news that Bill is on board here too. The length of the "statement" though does makes me wonder whether it was penned in response to an ultimatum from Roberto
