John Stones transfer saga

"We know it's the board and not you'.

What utter BS.

So the board asked Stones to hand in a transfer request, only for the club to reject it emphatically and then come out fighting, all guns blazing and stating quite clearly once again that they are not going to sell him. Even going as far as saying 'money can't buy everything', which leaves the club widely open to ridicule if they now were to accept a £40m or £50m bid.

Some of these fan groups that hate the board and want them out are so desperate to add to their narrative of the board being the devil that they make out absolutely every single thing wrong or bad or unfortunate at Everton is the sole responsibility of the board. It makes them look ridiculous and destroys their own credibility and the many good points they make. There's a massive Board thread so I won't turn this into that, but suffice to say, claming the Board are responsible for Stones transfer request is absolute nonsense in my eyes, and I'm one of the biggest critics of the Board and do indeed want them out. You cannot tie this Stones situation to them though.
Exactly right.

That tweet was from SOS run by that weapon Stavros, absolute BS and a disgrace to put it out there as supposed fact.

The "logic" of some fans baffle me.

Oh! One of our greatest talents is thinking about leaving the club, let's show him that Everton really is the best place for him by supporting him.

Nahhhh lets all shout and tweet abuse and right nasty things on the internet. That'll change his mind.

Complete and utter idiots.

Keith Curle who manages Carlise was on Sky yesterday and he said that he and indeed most managers ,irrespective of who the player was, would be on their way if a player said they wanted out and maintained that stance.

I don't think it's anything at all to do with money it's more to do with managing the long term impact of having a player that wants out and the message that sends to future players or should I say future players agents

This.

Having watched the game last night, admittedly against low grade opposition, I am still buzzing at the thrilling runs made by Ross and Del, the sheer power and pace of Rom in full flight and that strike from Kev which almost burst the net.

I posted the other day any of those lads would be harder to replace than a far from the finished article centre back who may or may not fulfil his potential.

On the one hand, I think it is sheer madness to turn diwn forty million for him.

Lunacy.

But as you say, it us beyond money now.

It is the message our more dynamic Young players and their bloodsucking agents would take from it which is key.

He simply has to stay now....for the medium term future of the club.

It's not logic, it's fans of a football club reacting emotively after a player of that club takes a steaming dump on them 6 days before the end of the transfer window after an entire summer of speculation.

The best and worst of this game is in the emotion. The abuse he gets now from a few goes hand in hand with how he would be mobbed for scoring a winner in the derby.

How is he being bullied?

And he's a grown man. Taking a bit of abuse is part and parcel of being a professional footballer.

People need to chill about this.

just feel if he was truly on the fence about the situation, you dont want bellends changing his mind for him

If a couple of bells shouting abuse changes his mind over the levels of support he has and still is receiving, even in light of the horrendous timing of his transfer request, then he needs to grow a thicker skin.

you can bully me on the internet as much as you want for thirty-forty grand a week whatever he is on. Crying!!!??? what a shame lad when I was 21 I was in the armed forces taking home about a £900 a month he needs to get a grip. This drama is going to go to the wire with no doubt leaving Everton in a crap position as usual with plenty for the media to ramble on about. Thank God last nights game was a good old fashioned cup tie that was entertaining and exciting because modern football really is starting to put me off, its sad not just being about 90 minutes on a saturday afternoon anymore.
