I could have punched the radio on the home way this afternoon. The way they were belittling us and making snidey remarks was unbelievable.

I personally dont believe the board could survive an agenda driven by them to sell the golden boy again and not reinvest. Not this time.

If the club were playing it well, it wouldn't have got to this stage and Stones would have continued to play ball by keeping it hush. To make him put in a transfer request, he must have been told he could go at the right price and is now getting panicked. If we had told him we would not be selling him, then he would have put a request in earlier.

We've now let it drag on to the point where if our valuation is met, we have seven days to replace him and STILL get the the three players Martinez wanted. That's far from playing this very well.

The club cannot control a transfer request. Stones on signing his recent was asked to be kept informed if a champions league club made an enquiry - which Everton did. The valuation is 34m but..Chelsea have played this badly by going through the press which has soured and be it hardened Martinez not to sell. Despite what many say this is far from a done deal and the statement will come again that he is not for sale. Chelsea have talked themselves in having to make a significant increase in the current offer to change the managers position. This is not kenwright but a Roberto decision,
 

Like some have said on here, if the board were a little more willing to spend on quality and show some ambition maybe the better players would be more likely to stay. Playing year in and year out with the same team and not progressing is probably frustrating.

Giving in and letting Stones leave will open the door for a mass exodus next year because the board refuse to spend on decent players. Lukaku, Barkley, McCarthy and Mirallas will all be working hard with their agents to get out of town.

Sad really, they were building a decent core of young players. This is just the beginning.

I know supporting a team is not all about winning things but what drives you on is the hope one day you get a team together that can challenge the top team if only for a cup. Outside the top sky 4 team and poss the rs no one else has a chance the best you can hope for is a top half finish with the outside chance of a top 5 finish, and though I don't necessarily blame the board for this particular fiasco, the root of it all lies in the boards failure to invest in the club and lack of ambition. Having to console my grandson who was in floods of tears at the news of Stones going was heart braking, this saga is probably the last straw for me, unless something amazing happens this will my last season as a season tk holder. I'm just fed up with it all.

I share your frustration. Evertonians are born not manufactured and I've bought my son his everton kits and strive to 'bring him up the right way' supporting the blues. All his friends living round here support utd or city (he's only 5 by the way) already his friends are trying to convince him to join the dark side (support city or utd). Maybe it would be easier if we lived on merseyside as he would be surrounded by more blues and family members that support the blues. The club needs to make a statement, either show some ambition or otherwise our current support will become discontented. But what message are we sending out to our future support, like your grandson and my son how the club is run.?

I hope you're right and it is a Roberto decision. I just feel this could have been rectified a lot earlier in the summer when initial interest was made public. Because as classless as Chelsea's decision to go through the press was, that interest was always going to impact on Stones. At that point, we could have either stated a price at which he was available (let them meet them price tag or not) or told Stones there was no way he was going this season. At that point then he could have made his transfer request. Maybe the latter is what has happened but I'm not sure why Stones would have left it that late to make his mind up?

Anyway, as I say, hope you're right! ;)

Even if we bought the yarmolenko, he would still want to leave, we signed Lukaku for 27 million. Have quality players signing new contracts. Martinez is building a young quality team but like most players they want it the easy way
