John Stones transfer saga

I think at 40 we would need to think long and hard.Any player is a bad tackle away from a career ending injury, and I doubt we have him insured for anywhere need that.Football is a business and money talks. As it stands I wouldn't be too nervous about Galloway slotting in there.

But it is simply suicide to sell a first-choice centre back 2 games into the season when you don't have any even remotely experienced options.

Am I the only one not remotely nervous about Browning stepping up? or do I have similiar tunnel vision to those who rate Besic so highly...

*not that I want us to sell Stones

If they came in with that bid a month ago, I think he would be off for sure. But it is simply suicide to sell a first-choice centre back 2 games into the season when you don't have any even remotely experienced options.

Back when we sold Lescott, we had Yobo to play centre half and Baines to play full-back, and we had time to bring in Heitinga. They may be offering stupid money, but we are simply not in a position to lose Stones and still be able to compete this season.

40 million pounds is certainly not a case of "too little", but it's a case of too late.
Especially when we have Baines out for several months, Hibbert looking crocked and Oviedo struggling for fitness.

If Stones goes we'd probably have Jags trying to shepherd Galloway on one side and Browning on the other through games whilst desperately trying to being a new CB up to speed during the week before facing a run against last years top 10 sides.

So could John Stones.

I'm sorry but don't even sell at 40mill. Can't believe people would even think about accepting that. He's going to have another blinder of a season, then go to the Euros next summer. His value this time next year will be worth 60 mill plus.

We DON'T have to sell. Chelsea have really wound me up how they've gone about it all, going through the media, there players publicly talking about Stones in the media, trying to unsettle a player, trying to force a move. Don't sell him and especially not to them, just out of principle. Chelsea have gone right up there with clubs I despise after all this. I hope the day after transfer deadline day I see mourinhos horrible arrogant smug face on sky sports gutted about being told where to go by little old Everton. DON'T DO IT EVERTON.

So we wouldn't be spending half of the Stones fee on two defenders then. If we need one in already and Stones hasn't been sold there is clearly money available, as we've been showing interest in other players.

But the board wouldnt give Martinez all stones fee and more spending money.
