John Stones transfer saga

I honestly have no clue what Chelsea are playing at with this transfer at this stage.

I mean I sort of get the £20m bid, as they just wanted the player to kick off and test the waters to get him as cheap as possible.

All they have done since is disrespect the club by treating us like a feeder club.

It's obvious to everyone what a serious bid would be - £30m isn't a serious bid. So why bother? It just annoys the fans and surely the club further?

City press conference will be interesting anyway.

My view just prior to the season was that Chelsea's manic pursuit of a young player with barely a season's worth of PL games under his belt was making them look weak and pathetic.

Now, having watched their hapless defending in the first two games I think they look not only weak and pathetic but increasingly desperate as well.

Sod them or screw them.

Don't sell Stones and tell them do do one.........but if we must sell then make the buggers pay way above owt they thought they could steal him for.

They messing around early on and the under-handed tactics has harmed us selling him imo.

If they would have kept it quite and offered £30 million at the start, they may have him by now.

Yes its like the cheap stunt DM tried on getting Felli and Baines - - I also wonder why that bid was so low when since DM has left - They spend money like confetti now?
I would hate Stones to go there maybe Barca in two years time!

Something worth bearing in mind, to all those entertaining the notion of selling Stones and then playing Football Manager with the funds, is Gareth Bale.

Spurs got what? £80m? A few years ago too, when prices were less inflated than they are now (see: £25m for Ashley Williams!). And even to this day they have not reached the heights they had with him in the team.

True Stones is a CB, not a Bale type who can win you a game on his own, but no matter how much you get, when you sell a proven, ace player you are taking a risk.
Yes and look at what Spurs did with that bale money panicked , and wasted it!

If he goes then I'll be pissed off if we don't reinvest the whole lot in addition to the £14m or whatever Yarmalenko will cost. Not to mention the money which we should have aside for the other 2 of these 3 players Martinez wants. It won't happen but it really should.

Also, I can see a bit of truth in these Williams rumours, but it could easily just be lazy journalism considering the Swansea - Martinez connection.

Despite what some say on here he's a good player who would suit our style, he's got a few years left at this level but not so much that it would block Galloway's and Browning's paths in to the first team. However he's not the tallest, is a bit of a nob, and would cost for more than what would be viable considering his age and ability.

Their defence needs work now, I don't think a 20 year old with what 50 games under his belt is going to make a difference regardless of how good he is
