John Stones transfer saga

Either he goes or is offered a new deal on terms that reflects a 30m player, that's how it works. Problem with this is his agent will be inserting buy out clauses galore and if he we don't cave in headlines like Stones rejects Everton contract will be all over the media. If he does go, don't expect RM to make a flurry of fancy signings with the money, he'll keep the bulk of it for next summer as he did with the Fellaini money which largely paid for Rom. Thoroughly depressing and perhaps a spanking at the weekend against Southampton which I wouldn't bet against even with a fully fit team will wake RM up he has to act now on signings

Do you actually think its because of Martinez our lack of transfer activity?

It is in the fact he's not just going to sign Joey Barton because we can wrap up a deal in 24 hours to appease the fans. He's obviously identified very specific targets that us and the media have no clue about - which is a good thing.

I no mate he also said we will do well to keep him as when one of he biggest clubs in England come calling it will be hard even tho he had just seen bobs presser.

You've got to hand it to him, he somehow commands a huge salary whilst chatting utter guff in the face of hard evidence.

Merson on just then stones would be better of playing 10 games for Chelsea than 30 odd for everton what a tosser.
most pundit opinions are just a reflection of where they think their pocket money is going to be coming from. just heard this morning talksport praising Clyne for staying and developing at southampton. same people will be insisting Stones goes asap. would anyone really rather hear what the likes of Shearer and Jamie Redknapp say than Strachan or Martin O'Neill? so many of them are there because they are corporate yes men.

Did the degenerate lowlife give any sensible reasons why this should be so?
Yes he said John stones will learn more of john terry than he would of phil JagielKa.
His words terry would look after stones were as phil jagielka wouldnt be able to as he would be to busy looking after himself.

It is actually quite an insult to Jags.

This whole sorry saga is metaphor for what modern football has become.

I'm surprised by Merson as he used to seem complimentary about us whenever I used to watch Soccer Saturday. Thankfully this is a nonsensical comment for him to make so I actually think these types of comments will be ignored by Stones. It doesn't make sense at all does it? lol. The season before a big International competition that Stones will be desperate to play in and the advice is to play 10 games rather than 30.

Nice one "Merse".

Thinking about this again, it seems even more nonsensical.

Everton finds itself under attack more during a normal game than Chelsea.

Ergo it stands to sense that defenders at Everton will be required to defend more than those at Chelsea.

Which would suggest a young defender is going to learn more about defending when he is actually doing it than he would if he spends more time loitering on the halfway line watching his own team probe the defences of the opposition for long periods.
