Need to get used to having posters on ignore, I thought esk was having a chat with himself for a while...

I've absolutely no clue on business or anything, but to me it kind of makes sense to outsource our merchandise selling as we have no specialist in the club, like Newcastle who have been mentioned. Although I am sure the deal could be better as well.

Or we could have just hired a specialist maybe

Had to go away and try and cool off.

After all this BS tonight.

Its like someone caught on camera doing 60 in a 30 mph area trying to claim they weren't speeding!

Everton Commercial Director = 'Its not our fault' 'was in bed asleep when it happened' shocker

DON'T INSULT OUR INTELLIGENCE.

When Everton are earning LESS than HALF of Newcastle something is very very wrong.

Doesn't take a brain surgeon to know this.

This on top of Elstone / WH Park has me absolutely FUMING.

Remember the warnings: Aston Villa

Mate you don't know that for sure - revenues are less than half, but because costs are accounted for differently you've no idea what the relative earnings position is from commercial activities.

Thanks. Just added you to my ignore list.

He has gone for the safe no risk strategy of guaranteed profit.

But, for ten years though!!

I'm sure - you could tell us - there are legal rules on what must be declared where in the accounts.

Surely you can't claim a sponsorship is a 'tax dividend' etc can you?

Sponsorship / merchandise is what it is.

There's creative accounting then there is fraudulant accounting....

I'm not saying it is fraudulent.

Look, if you do everything in-house re commercial activities, football clubs declare the level of commercial revenue specifically and then as part of their overall turnover. The costs of generating that revenue are not usually disclosed separately, they're lumped in with all the other operating costs. Thus it is difficult to give a net revenue figure arising from commercial activities.

If you outsource, gross revenues and the costs incurred in generating those revenues are not your concern. They are the concern of the party to whom you have outsourced. Hence in your own accounts you provide a figure for the revenues received from the outsourced activities. Costs associated with that are minimal (because they are outsourced) so pretty much everything received drops to the bottom line in terms of overall profitability.

That's the difference - I can't be any plainer than that.

all i know is it is seemingly easier to find a rs kit here in Asuncion, Paraguay than it is to find an Everton kit (outside Everton 1 or Everton 2) in the city in which the team plays.

you don't need an official store to sell kits.

they should have long ago negotiated with D1ck's (spelled oddly so the proper name of the place is discernable) long, long ago when Landon and Tim signed. any presence in the US market might have started bearing fruit over the years. but, hey, their unwillingness to do any sowing in the US (aside from the volunteer efforts of Everton USA - club supporters themselves) is a super extended dance remix of a topic all it's own.

so bizarre how a club that is so seemingly good within their local community is so far out of their depth at presence, branding, marketing...

But surely costs and revenues associated with individual activites are individually itemised.

Or how can a company with shareholders demonstrate perfomance in different areas of the business.

This 'other operating costs' headline is being massively abused by Everton.

They seem to just lump anything in there - deliberately to prevent transparent review of the EFC business perfomance.

Given the social importance of the club. I find this outrageous.

Its because everton 1 and 2 have exclusivity selling the kit which is bloody stupid.

....just reading Alastaire Campbell's book 'Winners' which looks at specific examples of success in business, politics and sport. The Everton kitbag model appears very short sighted in accepting our merchandise will not be sold in 'Gateshead'. Success in that space will surely be linked with success on the pitch. As Campbell suggests, we need an approach based on Objective, Strategy and Tactics. The objective has to be realistic but stretching and not linked to being mediocre.

Spot on.

I know we like to pride ourselves on being 'the peoples club', and that everyone is supposedly a scouser, but the reality is, we have an appeal which may be small, but nevertheless, is an appeal, across the country, and in Ireland. Yet you hear the lads on here, who aren't local mention occasions where they spot Newcastle shirts, West Brom, West Ham and Stoke in stores, yet don't sell Everton.

I may be bias in my opinion, but are we really a smaller appeal than Newcastle? Cause i don't think so, yet you see their jerseys in every store, yet we're left scratching our heads at how we've sold out our socks before they even go on sale, cause we haven't made enough!

It's little things like taking a neutralish kid to a shop, seeing Everton as their favourite shirt, and getting them hooked which make all the difference! 'Global Brand', which only sells shirts within a 50 mile radius.

'GLOBAL'
