McGeady's had plenty of good games in his time here, mate. Some shockers too. Weirdly, there have been games were he's been our one of best players and then been subbed off.

He should never be a regular starter, though. He's too inconsistent for that, many of his starts were forced this season due injury to other players and/or Martinez's one winger policy.

A decent squad player / bench option IMO.

First game of the season at Leicester (beautifully hit goal), and even though he was only on for the last five minutes, that was an inch perfect cross to Romelu Lukaku, last month at West Ham.

MARK WILSON yesterday lifted the lid on Aiden McGeady’s explosive bust-ups atCeltic.

He revealed “cheeky guy” McGeady and former Hoops gaffer Gordon Strachan almost came to blows in the dressing room.

How the Republic of Ireland and Everton man DID come to blows with Artur Boruc at Celtic.

And the time McGeady ended up sporting a black eye after a rammy at a hotdog stand.

McGeady and Strachan will come face to face again on Saturday when Scotland face Ireland.

Wilson expects his former Celtic team-mate to come out all guns blazing at the weekend – desperate to get the better of Strachan in the crucial Euro 2016 qualifying showdown in Dublin.

And there was certainly no love lost between manager and player seven years ago.

Wilson said: “It is fair to say Gordon and Aiden didn’t get on too well. It was a clash of personalities.

“I think Aiden was probably like Gordon was when he was younger. Aiden’s a good guy but he’s such a cheeky guy he would cause a fight anywhere.

“He’s a likeable guy but after a game against Hearts it all kicked off.

“Aiden got out his seat and there was a coming together. To be fair to Gordon he handled it perfectly – the way any top manager would.

“He suspended him for two weeks and we ended up winning at Ibrox – which didn’t please Aiden. He was probably hoping we were going to lose."

McGeady wasn’t always to blame though as Wilson branded keeper Artur Boruc a “psychopath” after he famously banjoed the winger in a training-ground flashpoint in 2009.

The defender, 31, who is looking for a new club following his release from Dumbarton, said: “There was also the Artur Boruc incident with Aiden.

“I was there, I was inside when it all kicked off. To be fair to Aiden that wasn’t his fault that time – it was the other psychopath’s fault!

“Something happened outside. Artur ran at him and tried to punch Aiden but he ducked out of the way. The pair were split up and headed for the changing room.

“Aiden was sitting at his locker and Artur came over to say sorry. He held out his hand, Aiden went to shake it, and then Artur whacked him!

“It was completely out of order, terrible, but that was the kind of fella Artur was. You never knew what to say to him. He was always on the edge.”

McGeady also found himself in bother during a Celtic trip abroad – another occasion when he incurred the wrath of Parkhead boss Strachan.

Wilson said: “We went on a night out in Denver during a pre-season tour in the USA but we were told to stay together.

“For the most part we did but Aiden was one of three lads who didn’t remain with the group. He stayed out and ended up getting involved with guys at a hotdog stand believe it or not.

“He woke up the next day with a black eye and obviously Gordon wasn’t happy. We flew to Chicago and Aiden was told to wear dark sunglasses and wasn’t allowed to train. He had a few run-ins, that’s for sure.”

McGeady will take to the pitch at the Aviva Stadium and will want a big performance after a below-par showing last November when Scotland triumphed 1-0 against Martin O’Neill’s men.

The Tartan Army have never forgotten he picked Ireland over Scotland and his every move at Celtic Park was greeted with a chorus of boos.

Wilson said: “Aiden will probably look at this game as a revenge mission for Ireland. He will be thinking he can put one over on Gordon.

“I’m sure he would’ve been disappointed in the way he played at Celtic Park. I watched the game and he was poor, you could see there was a lot of pressure on him.

“Coming back to the place he played, he’d have wanted to do well. There was a bit of booing going on as well because of his choice of selection.

“But Aiden’s on his home turf this time so he’ll look to perform much better. He’s capable of that.

“Maybe he’ll relax a bit more going into this one and he’s a dangerous opponent, there’s no doubt about it.

“He’s one of their best players alongside Robbie Keane but I believe Scotland have the defenders to deal with him.”

True, I think that's why so many blue's don't like him. Between injuries and some unexplained RM decisions to bring him off, or not play him at all (after that cross in the closing seconds at West Ham, it seemed crazy not bring him on against spurs) I don't think we have seen even near the best of him at Everton yet. I watched him a lot earlier in his career, and on his day he has taken my breath away. He may be older, but the signs are still there that one day soon, he will win over the whole crowd at Goodison. I live in hope
 

Does some excellent stuff at times, but most of the time he plays like somebody has tied his shoelaces together.

Lets hope theres a player there.

"We will have to be careful with him because his movement can be special and he has a great ability to appear in goalscoring positions out of the blue.

"I really like the way he plays football. He is a natural talent, who can create a brilliant piece of play in the blink of an eye and I can assure you our defenders will be paying very close attention to him.

"He'd be successful anywhere in Europe, but I know he likes playing for Celtic, so I'm not sure he'd leave."
