How much trouble are we actually in?

League cup, the winners this season beat Boro, QPR, Blackburn, Derby over two legs then Spurs in the final. Six games.
FA cup winners this season, will have beaten Macclesfield, Liverpool, Villa, Boro, ManU then Chelsea in the final. Six games.
The new-look Europa league will have 48 clubs in 12 groups of four, with the top two in each joining the eight third-placed clubs from the Champions League in a 32-club knock-out stage. Which means 6 group games, then a last 32, then a last 16, then a quarter final, then a semi final, then the final. That I think is 11 games.
So if we make the finals of all three competitions next season that is a total of 23 extra games on top of the 38 premier league games. 61 games in all. League commencing 15th August finishing 9th May 2010. Two of the three finals to be played after leagues end.
38 weeks of domestic league + 2 weeks for cup finals. 40 weeks. 280 days. 61 fixtures.

That means playing a game, on average just over every four and a half days. Without fail, all season, regardless of travelling.
Seventeen outfield players, cut down to fourteen due to the ANC.

Well at least all the players will get a decent run of games this year, plus a few medals! (y)

I'm so tired of repeating this

I keep hearing this and it's a ridiculous statement.

This season has done the exact opposite. This season has shown how much depth we have.

Ridiculous amounts of injuries and we finish 5th and are in the FA Cup final. Youngsters coming in and doing a job.

In comparison Villa have crumbled apart from a single injury to Laursen.

Losing Castillo? Who cares. Rodwell is breaking through anyway. Jacobsen? We can sign him if we want, but we have Coleman waiting on the wings. Jo? Yakubu is back, and Baxter will be 18 next year and he will need to have time to play just like Rodwell and Gosling.

We don't need to bring any more fringe squad players because we need to keep giving the youth players chances so that they can progress.

All we need in the summer is one or two quality, starting 11 signings who can give us width on the right.

We're not losing anyone of note anyway. Castillo? Valente? VDM!??? NUUUUUUUUU

see a doctor mate - you think and worry too much

Neiler, yloc may mean 1 year left on contract but it doesn't mean Cahill, Arteta or Lescott they signed extensions last year to keep them at the club till 2011/12

Hibbert - 28 - years left on contract (yloc)
I knew that would come up. As for thinking and worrying, I am just concerned about the europa league next season. All we hear from the top six apart from us is that depth is essential, I enjoyed our Uefa run, I would like another. Oh and for it to not cost us in the league.

Spund mate i remember Arteta and Cahill signing deals in the summer of 07 about a week apart, think they may be due new ones next year.

If Lescott goes to City.

How much did those players actually play, were available and contribute? if they were that vital trust me they all still would be here.

I seriously doubt we were gazumped by Blackburn.

Trust me the name of the game is improving what you get rid of, im certain we will do that, im glad Jacobson is gone a steady player who was the right man to bring in at the stage he did last summer, but he was hardly going to drive the team on now was he.

Not in the slightest bit worried.

We offered a 1-year contract and they offered a 2-year contract. Jacobsen wanted some stability and when we wouldn't offer 2 year he left. I personally think he'd be worth a 2 year contract since I definately think he's a better RB than Hibbert. We had better stability with Jacobsen as RB. Hibbert still makes juvenile mistakes.

We should be used to it all by now. Look at last summer. After that we didn't have a bad season did we. Patience is the key. In Moyes we trust. It is all going on behind the scenes I tell you.:huh::blink::mellow:
