I'm new to these forums (fora?) so be gentle if I missed something, but I keep reading about all these 'poor' sides below us in the table. Has anyone mentioned yet that WE are a poor side? A very poor side in fact. I've been supporting Everton since 1971 (typically, I missed out on the 1970 title, but I was around for the mid 80s, so it pains me to say that) .........

I don't think we will go down and I don't think any of us really think we actually will, but its obviously concerning until we string a few wins together.

Tonight is massive not just the points, but for confidence. If we get beat here the pressure on the Newcastle game at home will be immense from the crowd which will be felt by the players. Win here, I really think we'd then go on to beat the Geordies and we can start looking up the league.

I fancy us to win tonight, but a draw wouldn't be horrific given their form and general good home record.

I think there is a chance we could actually go down.
We cannot win not even against Leicester and with the desire and passion missing it could happen.
Really hoping we win tonight its a massive game

In our last seven games we have beat an inform Palace side away from home, drew with City and Liverpool, Failed to break down WBA (ffs Kev you tit) and thanks too Howard dropped 2 points at home to LCFC

Beaten by a last min goal away to the best side in the country and then to Arsenal

Our problem is drawing games not losing, Two of the last seven we could and should have won, Small margins and all that

Since the turn of the year when we got a point against City we have 100% seen an improvement from the side, Unlucky to go out of the F.A cup when down to 10 men and some decent results against inform teams like Palace and the RS

You say we have no desire or passion yet we battled back against West Ham with 10 men, Drew with City after going behind, Beat Palace away and got back into the LCFC game after conceding two awful goals

I bet you any team below us would love to have our form since Jan

Last season Norwich were the team to plummet in the second half of the season. As they went into freefall, there'd be an item every day on SSN or in the Press about Houghton's precarious position. I find it absolutely amazing that the same critical speculation has still not been focussed on Martinez. I don't recall, but surely Houghton's record towards the end of his term can't have been much, if any, worse than RMs.

Last night in the build up to the BT game at Villa, the panel were discussing the relegation situation and listed the betting odds for relegation -- we weren't even in the chart! This morning's press has some coverage of RMs recent record, but not much. A bad set of results tonight and things would surely intensify, particularly with 10 days before the next round of PL games for the media to speculate in.

Now, I know someone is going to come back on this post and point out that Norwich sacked Houghton and were still relegated. But that can be no case for sticking with Martinez. For one Norwich then went with a completely untried insider as a replacement (what was Adams, youth team coach?) and secondly - GK apart - they didn't have any players who'd be good enough to get in to Everton's current team of strugglers.

Am I correct in thinking that we currently have our worst ever points total after 28 games? And that no other manager has ever been as bad as Martinez in our entire history?

What does that matter though?

The season does not end for another 12 games, The points we finish on are all that matters

Morning Dave,

Yes I win for the blues is a must! How is your ` cult following ` developing? Have you convinced your followers yet that the only way is though `Dave` .....
Cult following?

Not sure about that eddy. If you're referring to the people who, like me, believe in giving a manager some well earned loyalty then yes, the 'cult' are doing very well - thanks very much for asking. Still a majority and still able to take the moral high ground from a rabble of dissidents who've been hell bent on unseating said manager from the day he arrived.

How can you be concerned? We're only 32 points off the top. If we win all of our games and Chelsea, City, Arsenal, United, Southampton, Liverpool, Tottenham, Swansea, Stoke, Newcastle, Palace and West Brom lose all of thier remaining games, we've won the league, mate.

That all sounds very good in theory, my good man.

But the reality is there is no chance of all dem teams losing all der matches as dey will all be playing each other and two teams can't lose in der same game......:red:

Well don't keep mentioning he's our manger with the best league points? So points only relevant when the season is over, & we shouldn't care about them now?
Edit: I don't want Martinez out just yet, but this is polar opposite to last year,& can't understand how we've got so sh*t in the league.
