And Villa's win tonight only heightens that worry, which is why anyone calling that result a good one for us is crazy.
That's a bit harsh.
Whilst I wanted a draw there tonight, I said before the game I would rather have a Villa win than a Baggies win.
The reason?
I refuse to let fear ruin my enjoyment of my football.
Mindful as I am that we are too close to the relegation zone for comfort and that relegation is indeed a possibilty, I also believe we will avoid that fate.
It is way too defeatist to sit brooding over the results of the teams below us when there are still thirty points plus to play for.
I want to see attainable targets above us .
And right now, thanks to the results this evening we have two teams in the crosshairs tomorrow night.
And even if we fail to win at Stoke we will remain just one result away from overtaking them with games at home to Barcodes and QPR coming down the pike.
I am Everton, me.
You know.....the team which has played more seasons in the top flight of English football than any other?
It is no accident we can boast of this achievement.
We are the ultimate survivors.
We have stayed up with much worse squads than this one.
So hang tuff......it'll soon be over.
And we will overtake a few of these teams above us, get into a comfort zone in a few weeks then we can see how far our European adventure can take us.
We will all be in Warsaw come May, wondering why we ever had this conversation.
As Oscar Wilde once said.......we are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
So I am glad Villa won and I ain't crazy

(well, not much anyway

Keep the faith, my friend.
