Relegation Fight 2014/2015

I completely understand that viewpoint and I think the vast majority are happy for him to have at least this summer to clear things up.

We have to hope that loyalty is rewarded because it's a long road back if he has a nightmare transfer window followed by a poor start to the season.
Vast majority??? Even the poll on this site, which has a relatively young and so more forgiving readership, has him only marginally in the majority. Toffeeweb hasn't conducted a similar poll yet but if it did it would undoubtedly come out with a negative result for RM supporters. You see, it's an age thing. Those who've been round the block over many decades with our club know garbage when they see it -- and currently we're looking straight in the face of it with Martinez.

One other thing, why do his supporters keep calling for loyalty? Of what relevance is this? The only loyalty we need to show is to the club. That's what's behind supporting a football club. No one should put loyalty to a manager or any player on their criteria for decision-making when the future of their club is at stake. Put it this way, if you were running a company and one of your key salesmen who'd performed brilliantly one year was selling next to nothing in the current year and in doing so was putting the future of your company and everyone associated with it at risk, would you keep him in the job?

so football's unpredictable but pages of people predicting results the rest of the way haha this forum is ridiculous sometimes. can't assume we'll win games but everyone can assume we'll lose them and get relegated

Can't believe we are trying to work out whether it's 34, 35, or 36 points that are needed to stay up.

It's shameful that it has come to this.

A season where we had to drop down a peg or two to 8th/9th position given the EL commitments would have been hard to take but would have been acceptable.

It's March and we are still wondering if we will get enough points to stay up ffs, which is unacceptable.

It's 11 years since it last happened and those days were supposed to be behind us.

If we don't start winning soon we could be in big trouble.

Perhaps that's because so far this season we've lost nearly twice as many PL games as we've won, so on the laws of probability if nothing else the latter camp look the more rational to me.

Hypothetical question. We finish 17th surviving on goal difference. Would you still maintain Martinez deserves another season? If another team scored a few more we'd be down with the same performance. Is the minimum standard really premier league survival? It's not fickle to not back a manager who you've lost faith in. I backed him all through December and Jan when the football was terrible but the moment he brought back Howard for Robles thats when i lost faith. I don't want him fired now, but that moment showed that he had a solution in front of him to improve the team and he chose favouritism over it. If he's making choices like that i don't think he can turn it around, there's no indicators that he will. Im not bothered about giving him the time, i just dont want to waste another half a season when i think he'll never change. Hope to be proven wrong though.
hypothetical question what if we finish 14th and win EL enabling us to offer CL to get a better squad. or another hypothetical, what if we find half the squad at ossie's covered in beak which will explain the poor season. hypothetical's are pointless and unproductive

See their point tho, win tomorow and we go above WBA & Palace...defo take that.
Of course a win tomorrow changes the picture significantly, but that's because it takes us massively towards the goal of 36 or so points that will keep us up and not because it puts us above Palace and WBA

this is part of the problem on here, im in no camp. There's too much extremism on here. apparently either one must want RM to die in a fire or you're giving him a below the waist handshake every night. I'm fine with having differing opinions on our likelihood of winning games, what bothers me is when people say "you can't predict football, theres no guarantees" but then go on to predict the results from the next 5 games. It's just contradictory

Reality bites...friggin orrible isnt it.
Never thought we'd be looking at the bottom 3's results & praying .

I think we can agree on that.

2 of the current bottom 3 are certainties to go down, but history suggests that the 3rd spot is usually up for grabs.

And it is usually reserved for the team that is dropping like a stone.

Not saying this will happen to us, but we must guard against complacency.

Almost embarrassing this, but finish above WBA & Palace on whatever points we will be safe.
Am I really saying this ?........jeez.
