Which direction are you facing for that to be a terrible result? Do you not want to overtake WBA?

Unreal.

Its unreal that you have jumped to the conclusion I don't want us to overtake teams, ffs.

A draw would have been the better result for Everton tonight and by saying that don't accuse me of not wanting Everton to get above teams ahead of us. Would an extra point for WBA have made it impossible to catch them ?

Unreal.

Hypothetical question. We finish 17th surviving on goal difference. Would you still maintain Martinez deserves another season? If another team scored a few more we'd be down with the same performance. Is the minimum standard really premier league survival? It's not fickle to not back a manager who you've lost faith in. I backed him all through December and Jan when the football was terrible but the moment he brought back Howard for Robles thats when i lost faith. I don't want him fired now, but that moment showed that he had a solution in front of him to improve the team and he chose favouritism over it. If he's making choices like that i don't think he can turn it around, there's no indicators that he will. Im not bothered about giving him the time, i just dont want to waste another half a season when i think he'll never change. Hope to be proven wrong though.
It's hugely hypothetical that scenario. It's highly unlikely. All I can do is look at where we ACTUALLY are and what our realistic chances are....on that basis the charge of fickleness is entirely deserved.

If you do want to overtake teams then you'll see that a Villa victory over WBA was the better result.

With a game in hand mow.

And the GD is worth another point.
This GD thing is something of a mirage. It's unlikely to disappear in the case of some of those below us, but not all, certainly not S'land and Hull, with who the current difference is negligible.

I believe a draw would have suited us better, don't make me out to be less of a fan for being wary of those below us, which obviously your not, which is fair enough, I wouldn't have a go at someone for having that confidence. Even if yours has been misplaced at times this season, with you promising an easy three points as recent as our last home game, doesn't always work out how you predict, does it, that's why id err on the side of caution and hope those below us pick up as few points as possible until we're completely clear of the drop zone, as it stands we're not.

A point for WBA wouldn't have put them out of our reach, utterly stupid question in your post.

We're still in a precarious position, so I understand why people are concerned and rightfully so; I'm somewhat concerned myself.

However, you're right that people are going slightly over the top, but people's emotions are frayed from this dire season.

If we beat Stoke tomorrow then everything will not be rosy, yet it will certainly alleviate some of the pressure. If we lose then it will cause concern.
I disagree. If we do win tomorrow then I would categorically conclude that even we could manage the 4 or 5 pts from the last 10 fixtures needed to stay up. Thing is, there's little chance of that happening.

It's a crap and worrying season, but why do people think that sides that have averaged far less than a point per game for 27 games are suddenly going to get 15/18 points from 11, but that we won't?
How about because we're crap, and also because it only takes 3 of them to do so and we're f****d.

We are quite comfortable GD wise with the teams below us

EFC -6

Hull -11

Sunderland -16

Villa -23

QPR -18

Burnley -20

Leicester -18

Only Hull could conceivably turn that round.

Sunderland just don't score enough goals to do it and we don't concede enough.

And that GD will remain a point in the bank regards the current bottom four.

Agreed.

If we win tomorow night I am officially crossing over into the "we will not be relegated" side of the house.

But unlike you, I see no reason why we should not win ;)

Palace and West Brom getting be at does us a favour because it keeps more teams in the mix at the bottom.
Any rational person would prefer it to be getting harder and harder for the bottom three to stay in touch irrespective of what's happening to all the rest. That's why the Villa result is a disaster at this point in time. If you don't think that their win will have put a few more worry lines on RM's face then you're living on another planet. There is one single wish at the moment -- that we do not finish 18th, 19th or 20th. Who the [Poor language removed] cares whether its instead 17th, 16th or 15th?

So that would give us 35/36 points....you sure thats enough ?
Can never be sure, but it would certainly require trojan efforts from Burnley or Leicester to get past 36 pts and that would mean us only having to keep an eye on Villa, QPR, Hull, and S'land (I think we can safely say that Pulis is not going to let WBA lose a clutch of games, and Pardew has probably done enough already to make Palace safe ultimately, which is why I can't feel excited by both of these teams having lost tonight).

If 40 is the goin rate we are a fair bit off that yet.
Can see 35/36 for the bottom two....its 3rd from bottom that worries me.
