Relegation Fight 2014/2015

Doesn't really matter if this increases our chances of safety or not. No one really thinks Everton will go down. The season regardless of relegation is a disgrace. If people want to give him another season fine, but don't make out merely securing premier league status thanks to the ineptitude of Burnley Leicester and one other is something to be praised. It's not. With our squad and the state of the premier league 10th would have been disgraceful. Bottom half is an abomination, a relegation battle is complete and utter failure. The results tonight don't make Martinez a better or worse manager. There's lots of people who think he isn't up to the job and have a lot of evidence to back that up regardless of whether we scrape survival. Still can't believe i'm even typing those words.

Who's saying that though?

You've set up a straw man there.

No, no, no...I completely agree with the sentiment you state there. But I'm talking about how you were trying to present those results tonight. Just that specifically.

Anyway, I can see it's pointless continuing to petition you for an apology. Let's leave it there.

Haha brilliant, didn't even know the results, in fact I only know villa won because I popped into the today's football thread and seen the fume. I've been out all evening and I don't even know who else has played.

My concern is everton, so tomorrow I'll pay attention. Unlike some I see

Good to know that you were keeping an eye on results and proving my point

I'll still be here tomorrow for that apology pal

Yes, unfortunately. It's a close call but walker was the same as martinez this year. Pointless football with no end game and no idea
I think Roberto's problem is he's continued to play the same way while other managers would have said let's get 11 behind the ball, contain and try to nick one,Moyes would have and the genius that is Pulis does it,if he'd done that maybe we'd have a few more points but then he'd get slaughtered for negative football, maybe he's just incapable of being pragmatic who knows.........

these comments are getting so common on here... Nobody thinks this is a good situation. Nobody thinks its worthy of praise. You can be supportive of giving the boss time AND think this season is a mess. They aren't mutually exclusive.

People have been making out that the results tonight have somehow pulled the rug out from underneath the Martinez plotters (if such a group exists). I'm making the point that the results tonight don't change anything. If the Martinez plotters did indeed exist then of course they would never wish relegation just to get rid of a manager. Equally even if Martinez stringed together a few wins it wouldn't change the opinion of a lot of fans. Bottom half mid table mediocrity is an utter disgrace for our club and that is all the stats you need to make a case for a change in management. If people want to support him fine, I really want him to turn it around as well and I hope he does. Do I think he will? No. Do tonight's results have any impact on how I formed that view? No. Am I glad we've decreased our chances of relegation? Of course. Does any of that change anyone's perception of Martinez? No.

...you're hardly a neutral voice here. lol

Very neutral actually.

I am very unhappy with the current predicament but am prepared to give him until next Christmas to turn it around.

But I because I don't have the same 100% dedication, and loyalty and admiration for your hero as you have I must then be on "the other side".

You've backed yourself into a corner here. The fortunes of the Club always take priority over any manager.

To accuse people who are worried about the possibility of relegation of wanting us to be in a worse position because it might help unseat the manager is way out of line IMO. Especially fans who spend their hard-earned supporting the team.

I always knew Jack Rodwell was a good Blue.

Hopefully Pienaar and Osman coming back will at least mean Everton win the easier home games. Those two know how to put a gang of turds to the sword.

He's tried to tighten up, and it's worked to a degree; but the final third when teams get behind the ball is an major issue and causing this awful boring football, yet he still goes for naismith barkley on the wing. No pace, no intensity and no idea on how to break it down.

He's paid to find a solution and hasn't. Clearly see the difference from when we played young boys, they were open and we tortured them, different story when we have a tactician who'll get men behind the ball in Europe

exactly mate. Just because I say I don't think we'll be relegated people seem to think I'm fine with this season. It's been a dreadful dreadful season but that doesn't mean fire Martinez and bring in tim sherwood either. Everyone loves their relegation hpyotheticals " If we lose to Stoke then this team wins, etc, etc" but then someone posts about us hypothetically winning a game, you get the "you can't predict results in football" posts. Does my head in haha

exactly this mate. if it's not an open game we're going to have a rough time of it because we can't unlock teams who sit behind the ball. The type of football RM wants us to play requires a creative player to unlock the defense and the only player in the squad whose shown they can play the passes to unlock a defense has been gibson the last few games. If RM want's to persist with this style we need a creative no 10 in the summer

He was everyone's hero last season though wasn't he? That's part of the intensity of the defence for me: how can someone be treated like that then dismissed so easily months later? Maybe if some get upset at how vehemently I support Martinez it's because they're having a mirror held up to themselves and they dont care for the ugly disloyal reflection they see staring back at them?

Just a thought.
