We play good football, football to hold your head up high with. The results are a problem this season. We have our style though and we need to give Martinez another season to get it ironed out now that the drone teams of the PL - the dullards like WBA and Leicester and Hull - are setting up to kill games. Some, I believe, would willingly turn s into one of those dullard teams with a managerial switch to a neanderthal. Then there's those who'd have a Moyes type, who try to win games but can only do so by abandoning all attempts at playing a passing game.

We have our manager in place. We have our style. We need to encourage it and have faith in the manager to add a player or two in the summer who can crack stubborn teams who sit back.

Newcastle/Hull/Southampton/Liverpool/Sunderland didn't sit back and defend and we still failed to win any of those games

The first three were in that God awful period around Christmas. The point against Liverpool given their form was well earned. We played Sunderland up there and dominated possession and created more chances than them.

I honestly don't think we have played good football in 90% of our games this season.

That liverpool derby was embarassingly negative and unambitious. Easily as negative as the dullards from west brom and leicester play vs us.

What about Leicester away then, Or Utd away, What about Liverpool at Anfield and Spurs at WHL

We've played good stuff in patches this season. We attempt to play good football at all times. For me, that's an important distinction.

I cant abide Everton being associated with a direct style, so I'll give Martinez 100% backing - as he should receive off all given whay he achieved last season.

I was embarrassed about our football under Smith and Moyes. It was a shameful period as far as I'm concerned. They were anti-Everton's pedigree. I see Martinez as a return to principles. Most did last season with the School of Science is reopened boast. I'll never accept route one for us. We are a footballing team. Martinez is our best hope to get back some reputation as one.

Few of them figures are incorrect

Well for a start McGeady cost us half a million, and we've only committed to paying £24m to Lukaku at the moment for it to reach £28m he'd have to be a success and hit big targets.

Ok, so the figures are out by £6m

Probably evens out compared to what we paid out in loan fees over the years.

And we are not talking 10's of millions

I agree.

I want better football than we got under Moyes and Smith. We got that last year, and I was delighted, we haven't got that this (consistently anyway) and I'm less delighted.

No offence, but you do realise after last season's great football and great results you sound a bit ridiculous calling Martinez a dud dont you?

Nope. Anyone can get lucky once. A true top manager does it again and again.

Let's hope he wasn't lucky - I want to be wrong on this, but you have to judge him on what your eyes are seeing in the here and now.

The only one out of them where we failed to try and take advantage of a team playing through us was the first derby.

That's my point, dullard teams present a problem. If the opposition dont set up defensively we'll go for a win.

Yes but we failed to win any of those games

He's not just struggling against defensive sides he's finding it hard against sides that attack

Not a good mixture really
