Tim Howard

Amazing that Robles has turned our opinion around so much on him eh.

I though Robles was an absolute turkey but a few decent performances and everyone wants him as number one- fair play to the lad.

The two goals yesterday were down to Taliban Tim and lets not forget he almost gave them another at the death.
in fact his whole game was full of minor errors of judgement, while his distribution was terrible.
If RM perseveres, he his a coward nothing less, goalkeeping is a critical position.
I have been thinking back and I cannot recall any champion side not having a great or at least a very , very good keeper.
Howard still makes the same errors has he did when Sir Alex flushed him.
Hers a question out of the other current first choice keepers, are any of them consistently worse than Taliban Tim ?
Your analysis of TH in goal was good but not accurate - he sticks on his line like bostick- his command of the box on crosses unnerves the defence - he is 35 years old, and he falls down on his backside too often - the biggest insult was when he sliced a clearance into the paddock yesterday, and laughed!

RM has to accept he is not a world class keeper, and never has been - fetch big Nev back as a goal keeping coach, and I bett Robles would be playing every week , and could get even better!

Such is the way of the evertonian, if a player doesnt have an immediate impact, they are written off

It says more about how utter hoop Howard is to be honest, but I've seen promising signs from Joel. Hopefully he goes on to make a good career for himself at this level, he seems likable

Against Palace Joel commanded his area superbly and caught a load of high balls into the box. He took a lot of pressure off the defence. I dread to think what would have happened that game if Howard was in goal.

I think this sums it up perfectly. I could never understand people criticising Joel for apparently only doing simple things. We have had a goalkeeper who all season has messed up on those "simple things".

You could see how Joel commanded his box was also giving confidence to Stones and Jagielka who's performances improved. Yesterday we were more shakey again, and Stones looks thoroughly bewildered on the first goal. The lack of confidence of our defence is palpable and to me it is down to having no trust in Howard.

I think a lot of that has to do with just how bad Howard has been this season.
I think most fans would have Southall back in goal in the shape he's in now, rather than Howard.

Even the fans were taking confidence from the way Joel was commanding the area.

People round me were going mad at Howard after the second goal yesterday.

But I wasn't.

I exoect that from him.....it was Martinez I was fuming at for playing Howard.

You are right of course, but I could write a essay on how bad he really is, but I am a gentle giant and was being kind to him
