Martinez deserves to be criticised for our League form this season as it's been crap, anyone who thinks he should be given a 'bye' due to last season is delusional imo.

Examining the blokes shortcomings and expecting a massive improvement should be every Blues mantra on the issue.

Celebrating safety is something I thought we'd waved goodbye to years back, seemingly its back in vogue in some quarters.

Remember when people mocked Moyes for his "40 points is always the target" statement? Martinez said essentially exactly that after the game yesterday

Solo lo Mayonnaise

But there's been far more good than bad, that's the reason people don't want him sacked.

No it's because it's mid season and we are still in Europe and therefore it would not be the right thing to do at the moment, despite the fact that performances and results merit it.

I think he is simply one of the brightest newer minds to football, he has experienced success in his previous managing experiences AND he has the disposition to be in the public eye and stand up for his squad and stand by his decisions. He should be given time to mold the squad to his liking and we should not be knee-jerk reacting to a block of poor performances from his squad. This is a big time manager with a big time future and in my judgement we should not be binning him until he is a well-established flop. So far he is mixed results at worst. You should not sack your manager, particularly one as well thought of as he, because of a poor run. That's not the way to build a winning football program.

Not having a pop here Pete, but lately it seems like i hate Martinez on here, i actually dont hate him and would probably give him next season if he keeps us up, but i have highlighted your post for the same reasons i have debated with @davek recently, whilst last season was a good one, people just jump in your face for pointing out the negatives, first of all he has won the FA Cup but also got relegated, he played one style and one only.

This is not knee jerking, it is a view based on the season so far, not just two or three results.
He is not a big time manager, he has managed swansea, wigan and Everton. If he can get a few cup success' at Everton and move to a bigger club then in years to come he may become big time.

Again - not a poor run but a poor season. A poor run is 1 win in 6 games, not a season of struggles.

Personally, think that the chairman has no intention of sacking bobby off this season even if we finish one place above the drop. If that is true, then it suggests that not only has the chairman tied his fate to that of the manager if we did go down but he cares not about the current season tkt holders whom have seen only 3 wins at home in the PL this season.

Bill could turn around say it,s my club and and I will role the dice on a EL cup win but the chances are that a quality EL club will figure out how to stop us as many have in the PL this year.

For me the moment he dropped Robles for Howard was the moment I wanted him out. I really thought, through injury more than anything else, he was finding a decent team. He'd finally retired Distin (thank god), and it seemed as though he'd seen the error of his ways with Howard. It nly needed his blind spot over Barry to be cured and we'd be ok. But as soon as he thought it was acceptable to drop a keeper with three clean sheets plus two very good displays in the cup to bring back a half fit one in terrible form who has now conceded four in three games all of which were individual errors, I realised he will never learn. If Distin hadn't have fallen out with RM he'd probably be back in as well and Barry will return for the impressive Gibson as well. He's even worse for favoruites than Moyes. Contrast that with Mourinho who would effectively see Cech leave because he favours Courtois. That is bold management. Martinez is a yes man who cannot handle the 'big' names. That is why Lukaku, Barry, Naismith, Baines, Jags and Howard are guaranteed to start every week regardless of form.

Ha Ha Ha.

eddy you joined 5 days ago and every single one of your posts have been about getting shut of Martinez. Who did you used to be before you were banned?

Lol.

Think it was about 5 weeks ago to be honest Dave, explains a few things though, perhaps you need to put your `spectacles` on and you might see what Im seeing

No problem, having a pop at a stranger miles away is what forums are for anyway- if you had been up for it.

You bring up some real good points. My point about him being "big time" is that he is thought of as the "next" one and we have him here now. He has to grow to be sure, but if we let him, then we may have a world class guy one day. Or we can take another run at the next "Roberto Martinez" and go through two years of growth and learning etc. all over again. I would just as soon see if this season was a bump in the road for a guy once thought to have what it takes, than start over again. for now.

Lukaku missed some sitters today, expected better from him. Should spend all week kicking a ball into a net

Im willing to do the same, i think i have argued more for the fact that people on here think your being fickle for pointing out his faults, i made a thread a while ago highlighting that Martinez style would not get us out of this fight, fast forward 8-10 games and we are still in a relegation dogfight. These things take time to build, Martinez is no different, but i feel sometimes his stubborness and style of play just may not be suited to Everton. I hope i am wrong.

Continuity could be achieved without the current manager. Personal wise the squad needs turnover anyway with some deadwood to be moved on and we have the core of a good young side so I am not seeing what we will loose by throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The players will stay given the money on offer through the new TV deal but it,s the uncertainty within the squad under the current coach which is for me the biggest issue.

This season surely has shown to him who are worthy and up to his style. Martinez has important summer ahead of him.

We had a whole good season last year, this time out 3/4 of the way through we've been indifferent but still have a chance of silverware. I wouldn't say the merits getting shut of the manager, especially if you factor in other mitigating circumstances.

I think the club can move forward without bobby, I don,t see why fans are caught up on the manager being the keystone for progress when we have all what we need in place (playing staff) to move forward with the right application from a new manager.

Personally I think Etoo wasnt the only bad apple in the squad...I admit this season has a weird vibe innit...think we will see Swift kicks in the bum when season is over. Core is good. We just need few additions to perfect the style bobby wants us to play.
