The good thing about having a crap season is that the last 5 games maybe even more should be effectively dead rubber games. It might allow us to play a lot of the U21s. Galloway, Browning, Henen, Garbutt (if he signs), Ledson and perhaps even Green might get games.
Spurs over the last couple of seasons have brought youngster through, who are regulars now.Id like us to do the same give them a run of games, there must be a couple nearly ready if they turn out decent,we've saved millions.

I'll just leave this here

I so wanted to do this but I hadn't a clue were to begin.

He is only on loan from Olympicacos or whatever you call them or have I missed something??

By all accounts, there were some difficulties dealing with Anderlecht directly last summer, even though the player was with Everton the entire time. Olympiacos were brought in as a third party, and Everton have the option of to bring Henen in on a permanent deal for £500k.

There is a suggestion that the loan was only a way to reduce the amount of money we paid, Anderlecht apparently wanted a lot more from us (~4m) than they did from Olympiacus (~0.5m).

So we let them buy him on the cheap and we've got a set buyout fee if we want him that will cover their outlay plus some additional cash (~1m), and if we don't they still have a young player for little money.

The figures are ballpark, they are somewhere in the thread if you are interested but it is all speculation anyway, nothing confirmed by the clubs.

Seems extremely shady, could you imagine the rage on here if say Leicester bought Garbutt for £1m in January and Liverpool took him off Leicester in the Summer. Hopefully it's a definite and the Greek's let him come here this Summer.

If true it's very shady, great short term cost saving but potentially bad long term - we can probably write off getting any other player from Anderlecht for a start. Don't think the money saved is big enough to warrant the underhand tactics and reputational damage but it is all just speculation at the moment.

And Anderlecht are a great source of developing talent.

The Echo said that we didn't want to take the risk in paying 300k for the lad without seeing him up close for a year, after which we'll pay 500k so olympiakos either make a tidy profit or they get the lad

Massive mingebagging either way like

I still think it might have been a bit man motivational genius to get a player who has a record of being a bit difficult to knuckle down and play for his contract. Well that's my conspiracy theory. If he goes on to greatness this deal will go down in legend - probably not in a good way.

And Anderlecht are a great source of developing talent.

I hope it doesn't impact our long and productive relationship with Anderlecht. Remember all of those former Anderlecht players that have powered us to glory in the past? Where would Everton be without that kind of dynamic and rewarding relationship?

Those chodes got their pants pulled down by Kenwright. That tells you all you need to know about them.
