Well we have 4 in : Besic (22), Barkley (21), Stones (20) and Lukaku (21).

Garbutt (21) and Browning (20) have also played this year. He plays them when they are ready.

But back in that game there were not maybes or when they are ready, they were all playing in the game, bit of a difference.

Apart from Lukaku he plays them when hehas to not any other time.

He started with distin over stones ffs

This whole giving youth a chance is a bit of a myth sure he night give them a go but only if a player is injured

Barkley played regularly last year. This year he was injured early on and Naismith hit a great run of form, and he hit a poor run of form. Let's not pretend he's being kept out of the side by a manager that doesn't trust youth.

Besic has needed to get to speed in the Prem, and admittedly Barry is a security blanket, but he does play, and we'll see him more.

Stones is no longer behind Distin is he? Started the season that way because Jags and Distin had a years long proven partnership. Not suggesting I would do the same, but Stones is another one that has played very regularly for his age, especially considering his position.

Martinez may not be perfect with youth (Hibbo over Garbutt still feels all wrong to me), but let's not pretend he is afraid to play young players either.

He started last season with Barkley and besides can you really blame him for starting with Barry and Distin? They where two of our standout performers last year.

He doesn't play Stones now because he has to. Distin and Alcaraz are back for selection. Besic was also not dropped when McCarthy came back so now maybe he too has earned his place in the team.

I'm a bit torn over this one. On one had I would love to see the younger players given the chance now however if this season has taught us anything with the Barkley situation there's a danger of too much too soon.

.....I know @Mikey_Fitzgerald feels all youngsters deserve a run of games but I can't see that ever happening. Manager's can't use the first team as trial games but there comes a time when the most promising have to be blooded. It is all about timing and even then knowing when to put them back on the bench. Managers want players to come through, especially if they're better than what they have.

A player should not be put in the team just because they are young...or because they are old.
They are in because of what they bring to the team.
Youngsters make mistakes that can cost games. Teams losing games can cost managers their jobs.
Managers probably err on the side of caution and bring in young players when they feel they are ready. Let's not forget they see themmevery day in training and very few young players that have left the club have gone on to have stellar premiership careers.

And if that injured player is Baines then he'd rather play the shoe at left back than give youth a go!!

From what i have seen of him (admitidly very little). He does seem more mirallas then lukaku. Still only 18 so not expecting to see anything of him as bobby prefers the 'experience' to raw un afraid kids. Will end up at fc twente in a couple of years

I'd take that in a minute!
