@davek is not me.Actually it has been said Osman is nearly back to full fitness. Hibbert has still a year on his contract, guaranteed money even if he does not play,Gibson just returned still has a contract so he won't be leaving, Alcaraz has I believe also still got a year unless you know differently, Distin is deffo out, As for Pienaar, RM talks about getting back to fitness soon. For me Barry is also deadwood but he has two years left, McGeady also has a way to go. These are all players on DvaeK's deadwood list which also included Jags!
Not quite as easy as you think and then where is the money to replace all them.
They're both very young. We cant be experimenting next season. Maybe if we get clear of this mess now with 5 or 6 games to go Martinez can throw them in and see what we have.Dave I am ignoring the question of RMs status in my reply for me ATM it is irrelevant. I am thinking of the team and the future so lest say regardless of who the manager is what CBs can you think of that we might be able to get? Agree on Stones naturally, okay Jags another year as cover but if we buy in what will that do to the likes of Galloway and Browning for them to think of their future with Everton?
I hope nobody take this as a knee jerk reaction to last nights game (Chelsea 1-0 12/02/15), but i think i have finally had enough of our Manager Roberto Martinez.
@davek is not me.
We have different opinions you see.
Distin, Pienaar, Alcaraz (see transfermarkt, he only signed a one year extension) are all at the end of their contract. They're limited in how they can contribute and look to be at the end of their tenure at the top level so I consider them deadwood.
Gibson is good enough to be in the team but is incredibly injury prone, but someone would take a shot on getting him fit if he was available. Would be the difference between keeping someone up or not if fit.
Hibbo is reliable if unspectacular cover and is the stopgap until Jonjoe Kenny has developed enough to his game to be back up.
Osman still can contribute for me, but we do need to be looking to replace him by the end of next season.
McGeady was a good pickup as squad cover and can contribute of the bench and with the occasional start. Just hasn't got the consistent quality to be a first team pick as injuries have demanded he be.
Jags is still a quality defender. Due diligence demands we look for a replacement over the next year or two else we tempt fate in having him suddenly die on us as Distin did, leaving us short for quality in the back.
Barry is still a quality player, just doesn't need to be played 90mins every game. If he was rested once every 5 or 6 games I think his game would be much better for it. He can still contribute as great cover even if Besic forces into the first team so I don't count him as deadwood.
Thank you my fellow blue @deipnosophist

I am happy to educate our fellow Evertonian @noel early on the merits of our one and only "Geads".
You both need to to watch him carefully, but not with your eyes wide shut, or you will miss the fastest feet in world football at work. It is with these feet that true magic occurs.
As I posted in the other McGeady forum, "Aiden McGeady: The Answer to all our Problems" ( which by the way I advise you to take a good look at as there are some pie charts and statistics that prove my point), and I quote...
" You'll all miss him when he is gone. Could have been the difference against Chelsea for mine. Those maze-like runs. Bamboozling the opposition's inferior defenders.
The exciting part is that he hasn't reached his full potential yet.
I am overwhelmed by anticipation..."
Absolute steal. And to think he has nowhere even approached his peak yet. We are in for a Golden Era of wingermanship over the next few years. Just keep your eyes peeled on him.
Were it not from many and many world class saves from goalkeepers all season from his dead eye shooting, I have no doubt he would be our top scorer. Just a simple of case of "bad luck".
Far superior player, for example, to that donkey Di Maria that Man U paid £59.7m for. Martinez is a genius. A genius eye for talent.
Do yourselves a favour from now on and keep a closer, more appreciative, educated eye on our gun winger. We are blessed...
I think Alcaraz will stay as a stopgap as Martinez tries to bring through Browning and Galloway. Experienced cover and a good ballplaying center back. Unsure about Pienaar.Okay mate, but for me Osman should be retired, Would like to shift Barry if we could to be honest as we have enough DMs and he is danred old and slow, never rated McGeady at all but perhaps he can be persuaded to go back to north of the border. AS for the trio of Distin deffo out, Alcaraz bet he gets a contract extension and as will Pienaar. But they are just my views mate, time will tell.

He certainly has sorted out the defence. Some people need to pick up a dictionary and look up the word " Supporter " and read the definition of it and think back to the summer when you all were kissing Roberto's arse and claiming him to be the best thing since sliced bread.
You know who you are!!!!
Thanks. Fixed. But such posts shouldn't be missed...You posted it twice here on this thread as well, Kith.....![]()
