My defending was top notch. If I hadnt purposely thrown in the odd mistake every other game it would hardly have been fair to those strikers who wouldn't have got a sniff. I'd have Eto'o of yesteryear in my back pocket.

Developments now on Samuel Eto’o’s imminent move from Evertonto Sampdoria now, and Sky Italia confirm the deal has hit a snag with the Premier League side demanding additional funds to let the striker leave.

The Serie A side are confident the striker will make the move having agreed personal terms but both clubs will now have to agree on a revised fee.

Just because there is a surplus on Transfer money doesn't mean it's not needed elsewhere to keep us running.

The extra TV money covers the gap in the finances meaning there actually is now an overall surplus which can be spent by the manager.

mate one of our majority shareholders is a businessman worth upwards of $200 million, do you think he should sit on our board and not invest ?

He's been owned by 7 clubs in his career, not really that many considering he's well into his 30s. Apparently he would be taking a pay cut to go to Italy too. So yes, it is harsh, unless you want to speculate about what is going on behind the scenes. I'd rather judge him by what I've seen of him.

Welcome to the forum mate.

To be honest nobody knows what is in Eto'o's contract. There are even doubts as to whether he has 6 months or 18 months of it left, seems like an extra year was going to be triggered if he made 15 Everton appearances but unclear if that is starts (he has made 12) or included any substitute appearances (triggered when he played against Manchester City).

There are rumours of a gentleman's agreement that at any time he could talk to an Italian team - legally you are only allowed to talk in the last 6 months of your contract. But unsure if that included him being able to a) leave before his contract ended without any club compensation b) collect full bonuses/severance pay.

Eto'o hasn't travelled with our team to their training camp. Best guess is that we are haggling over money and trying to find a replacement but that the deal will eventually get done in some fashion.

Say what you like about our board but its true when we say Everton dont sell cheap.

When you negotiate a deal, you negotiate with the party in power. If you don't know who is in power, you're the idiot, not them. If you feel like you're not in control, you say damaging things in public. Sampdoria is not the idiot, but is trying to get a better deal and is using PR to add pressure. Not likely much more to the story than that.
