Seriously do you believe in what he said? Last January he said we won't be getting McGeady and a few days later we got him off the Russian.

All very well when a deal maybe in the balance...He's saying very little chance of any deals...in the balance or not.

another reason to get rid...even Bill won't back him with what little we may have to bring in somebody and god knows we need some one or two or three just to keep up with the hammies

I can see what Bobby is getting at. Its all too easy to look at the league position and results and think its a far worse state of affairs than it is. If you actually consider each game on its individual merits, it has often been the case that the games could have gone either way and have hinged on one moment, on bit of luck, one (as he says) bit of magic. Osman and Pienaar are criminally underated by the way. They can unlock the door and as the old saying goes "you cant score the 2nd if you dont score the first". Look at the difference Fabregas has made at Chelsea, he provides that final key contribution just before the goal. I'm not saying Ossy & Pienaar are as good as Fabregas obviously, but they are in his mould - and actually we'll never know how close they are to that level as we will never (sadly) see them with the same supporting cast as Fabregas has been able to play with. Thats another debate. Anyway in summary i think theres nothing wrong with what Martinez has said there, he knows what he's doing and although it doesnt feel great right now, he is sterring us in the right direction.

What direction is he steering us though looks like the championship at the moment.

Problem solved, get them fit and top four here we come:

"Everton are missing a litle last third “magic” from injured stars Leon Osman and Steven Pienaar says boss Roberto Martinez.

Osman is struggling with a foot ligament problem and hasn’t featured since the defeat at Manchester City on December 6.

Martinez says that the midfielder will not need surgery, but is not expected to return any time soon.

Pienaar is suffering from a knee injury and made his last appearance as a late substitute in the Blues last victory against Queens Park Rangers on december 15.

After Monday night’s goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion Martinez said: “We all share the same frustration. We wanted to win the game and we wanted to perform well. The players had the perfect attitude and mindset and the perfect focus that allowed us to control the game. You don’t see many games in the Premier League when the opposition has no shots on target.

“We had a few games where we have managed that, but at the other end we are missing a little magic and those moments we have seen so many times from Leon Osman and Steven Pienaar and even Aiden McGeady – they have real quality in finding space.

“The second half we all got frustrated, the players to the crowd and that can be vice versa from the crowd to the players.”

But Martinez was pleased with the attitude shown by young midfielder Ross Barkley despite the frustration evident in the crowd.

“Ross didn’t have a fantastic evening but he didn’t show any signs of weakness, of not wanting the ball and not wanting to show for it,” added the Blues boss. “That’s a sign of incredible character - and that’s the way things will turn.”

I have used the word deluded alot lately but mainly to the RM supporters who think he is the man too take us to the next level, but this drivel accompanied by the rest of the [Poor language removed] spin he tries to put on his and his players failure is unbelievable.

Wheres the delusion?

Can't see the problem with this.

Osman and Pienaar are the two players in our squad (for all their faults) who are best at picking a clever pass around an opponents box. Against the bus that WBA parked on Monday night, they were the two players we most missed. Actually you could perhaps add Eto'o to that list, but there's another story.

He's not saying that their return will suddenly lead to an upturn in our fortunes, but against WBA on Monday night those sort of players are exactly what we were missing.

If these type of players are the type he thinks we need to change games then why is he not bringing them in? The two names mentioned are too old now and hence deluded if when are fit they will have the impact they had 5 or more years ago.

We are lacking goals but mentioning we need players of the Dean and Latchford ilk does not help our current precarious position it just serves to tell us what we already know, football managers seem to think a lot of there supporters do not understand the game or their teams particular shortcomings, so not only deluded but possibly lacking a bit of respect to the supporters who follow them - lets go for warm weather training, we have a break and its winter!!!!!

Osman gets way too much stick on here. Obviously you can prove anything with statistics but I thought I'd check out his impact on Soccerbase.

He's started 7 games this season and we've lost one (to Palace) and in that game he got an assist. Just a convenient scapegoat for non-thinking bells. It's a little bit RAWKish if i'm honest.

Last season out win percentage with Leon starting was 59% Draw 24% and loss 17%

Without him it was 47% Draw 20% and losses leapt to 33%.

He's a very, very underrated player who still possesses a magnetic first touch and a good footballing brain, he'd have been perfect for Monday night.

the quote is in the context of that game. Most fans review of that game would be we missed some kind of creativity to get past the Pulis bus. He would be right to point to the missing options in the squad that would provide more of this than others.

Its a seperate issue if you feel we should have more than a young and learning Ross, and Ossie/Pienaar as the players to fill this role. I personally think we should have gotten in a playmaker in his first window but can understand that the choice he went with obviously looks much worse now when Ross is struggling to cope with pressure and the situation, and Pienaar and then Ossie have been missing. He can´t have the whole squad upgraded in one window.

What I don´t see is delusion or disrespect to the fans. Everybodys jumping to find disgraces and outrages in everything coming out of the club just now...
