Bloody hell. If that Robles pen is two inches lower its the best pen of the shootout. Hate West Ham, literally are just Stoke MkII.

Anyway, as others have said, this is probably a blessing. We need to find some league form, extra cup trips to league one sides won't help.

allardyce is such a tit fair play, his "much better versatility" was on sow tonight. throughout his whole managerial career he's had a big grock up front who gets the ball hoofed to them all day long. or they score from set plays. jay jay okocha aside, nobody has done anything else for him, laughable statement. everyone says they're great to watch this season, but i've seen them a few times and not noticed it, they're just a bit better than normal seasons.

We are out but I think we have a better chance of winning the euro league, because there no one in it better than City,Chelsea, arsenal and we surely would have meet one of them probably away in the fa cup and got battered.

a lot of our players got lucky with theirs, the only one he got close to was the one he saved. great performance from him, but i hope we don't concede any pens this season ha

Forget the encouraging performance ! We are out cos we struggle to defend !! Another defeat !!! We've got that losing feeling at the moment ! Martinez out

Great performance, can't fault the player's efforts and the results will come. Two six-pointers back-to-back to lift us back to the lofty heights above Stoke, hopefully.

I'm gutted, great effort with 10 men. I can't help thinking 28m buys you a striker who can finish in big matches under pressure and Rom shoots wide in extra time. I'm not blaming him but just wondering it other strikers that demand such a fee would have done the same.....

Some other striker may wouldn't have been able to bully past 3 players and make a chance like that. He's still 21 and will get better. Inorder to be effective he needs service, not 4 players converging outside the area and losing the ball.

I was at work and only got back in time for the shoot out. So I missed what sounds like a brave Everton performance and just caught the grinding disappointment that is losing a penalty shoot out. Ffs. Still, sounds like there were lots of positives so COYB.

...this is a long match thread.

Interesting, that that defeat has probably forged, in my childrens souls, a greater affection for Everton than the lukewarm one that existed before. They are gutted.

Welcome to EFC kids!!

regardless of the heartbreak, i'm glad mirallas equalised, we were limping meakly out of the FA Cup before that, going out on pens after that great fight was much more pleasing even if the ending was much worse.

Anyone slagging any of the players (excluding barkley and McGeady for his rashness) or the manager off can do one as far as I'm concerned. We were bloody brilliant and as has been said a penalty shoot out is a lottery, albeit one we hardly ever win. If we can keep this kind of performace level up we'll start moving up the league no problem.
