Finished off the Glenmorangie 12yo Lasanta. On to the Ardbeg 10yo.
Enjoyed a glass or two of the Chivas Regal 12 to celebrate a cousin's Name Day today.Just the 12
I have to say, following on from a conversation I had with my mum a week ago, Balvenie has excellent "Doublewood" and "Caribbean Cask" expressions, but I find the rest of their range less than excellent.Just had a glass of the Balvenie 17 year old, quite smoky for a Speyside. Nice, but I've got to be honest, bottle for bottle I'd go for the Caribbean Cask or even the 12 year old, don't think it warrants the extra 30 quid.
Really like the Doublewood, but since trying the Oban Distiller's Edition I haven't touched it.I have to say, following on from a conversation I had with my mum a week ago, Balvenie has excellent "Doublewood" and "Caribbean Cask" expressions, but I find the rest of their range less than excellent.
Glenlivet 12 hereDrinking 12yo Doublewood tonight. Love the sweet vanilla-ish finish on it.
Cool, glad it's not just me then. As I say, nothing really wrong with it, but at nearly 80 quid vs 40 for the Caribbean or 30 odd for the Doublwood, no chance. Guess I was just expecting something extraordinaryI have to say, following on from a conversation I had with my mum a week ago, Balvenie has excellent "Doublewood" and "Caribbean Cask" expressions, but I find the rest of their range less than excellent.

Yes, you drink it.Ok, not a single malt, but I liked it enough. Now I am in a quandry, I bought myself a bottle of Gentleman Jack for christmas, its now well gone. But I bought one for someone else who I have not seen yet as a present.
Do I.....
This should be a poll.
No, keep it in here.Cracked open a Jim Beam 'Devil's Cut' 90 proof. Needs a splash of water but a very nice bourbon indeed. Not sure whether bourbon needs it's own thread, what say you @Groucho ?
