Roberto Martinez discussion

You lost me at the fourth word.

It is not my custom to conduct conversations with foul mouthed boors so let me leave you with this thought, sir.

When a fellow is reduced to using the language of the gutter during the course of an imternet debate it is always a sure sign he has lost his argument.

Which you most assuredly have on this occasion.
The feck's an imternet?

When was Ferguson 'in his pomp'?? He was a terrible forward, only twice in 11 seasons hit double figures for us in the league, the most being 11..

I don't know about pomp, but Ferguson almost single handedly kept us up in 1997/98, and was a massive part of the survival & success in 1994/95.

Unless you lived through that time, it's hard to understand what Ferguson gave us during that period. We needed a hero during desperately lean times and he was it. Just looking at goal stats with '2015 eyes' gives a false impression.

The amount of sh1te coming out of his mouth is unbelievable. 4th, seriously? We call Kops or Barcodes deluded but I must say Martinez is deluded in this case, if he really mean it.

Luca Vialli kept us up in 1997/98, with a little help from Gareth Farrelly.

Dunc was inconsistent. He was only ever up for the big games against the likes of the RS and Manu, hence his distinctly average goalscoring record, which also suffered because he got himself banned needlessly on numerous occasions.

Yes....when we had nowt we had Big Dunc.

And he loved scoring against the RS.....;)

So now Martinez should be taking lessons from Pulis then?

Haha i knew someone would ignore the content of the quote and take issue with who said it or who it was said about.

And the very next post you didn't disappoint.

Of course Martinez should take lessons from Pulis if that lesson is not to ask players to do things they can't do.

That would remain good advice whether it's Howard Kendall, Tony Pulis or the guy who sweeps the roads outside Goodison giving it.

Erm o.k then mate. Glad I didn't disappoint you either!

Without Ferguson's efforts, we'd have already been relegated in March.

He was 'up' for a lot of games in 1997/98, far more than just the derby and the Utd games. I remember the hat trick he scored against Bolton at home, Christmas 1997 for starters. Given that we survived because we had a better goal difference than Bolton, I'd say that was particularly vital. He was unplayable that day. Yeah, he did have his major faults and was suspended too much, but that's because he cared and showed fight, and unfortunately lost his head too much. He was captain that season for a reason though, because he was a leader.

Yeah fair enough. He was great under Joe Royle but it just seemed he was never the same after Joe left. But fans need a hero and I suppose he was it back then.
