Roberto Martinez discussion

Living off last year; like some on here

Doesn't believe in having a good defence; like building a house without foundations

Admits he's been in this situation before, yet still sticks by his method; obvioulsy it doesn't work

We are going to concede more goals and loose more games, but as long as we keep that ball and pass it round its, all good

Thanks Roberto

If Rodgers had come out with this tosh three games ago we'd be rightly lambasting him as a deluded fraud

Except Rodgers then changed his formation like he changed his partner and their form improved

Extreme and unjustified arrogance to think there is nothing wrong with his approach, and a core reason why Wigan got relegated

What's more worrying is how frustrated the crowd get now after 5 minutes, it leaks onto the players too

Its because most fans have been brought up on the 'Hit the box' football which is now being phased out worldwide except for Sunday League because it is not a way to win anything. Its a thing of the past. Our style has hit a brick wall after the initial success of last season. I agree with RM that that type of style has to stay and be mastered by the correct type of player. We haven't got a full team of players that can play this style yet but I wouldn't change it as it is the only way we can progress and reverting back to 'hit the box' is not the answer.

I do agree that we do not send the crosses in frequently enough when in a good position to do so and we will rather start the sideway and back passing rather than early crosses. I do not want to see the big dunc type football back again.

Nailed it.

Not me, championship winning sides of the 80's for me

Yet he refuses to accept this

Nobody is saying that we should revert to "hit the box" football. We want the manager to adapt and realise that we are easier to than a kids book

I keep seeing people say this and it's driving me mad. Robles and Alcaraz are back-ups being forced to play due to injury, and Alcaraz at least is doing a perfectly fine job of it. Koné had an awful awful injury period, has worked for over a year to get back up to fitness to play for Everton, has looked great since coming back and rewarded our patience with a goal 5 minutes into his first start. McCarthy is possibly the player of the season so far, discounting injuries.

Stop slagging off the Wigan players in the side to try and make a crap point, basically.

Alcarez is horrific mate, nervous every time he gets the ball.

I would prefer Hit The Box style currently as our football is boring [Poor language removed] which is killing the atmosphere.

Brilliant team for its era. Wouldn't finish a game with more than 8 players nowadays. We also had the right type of players that had class to boot.

Yet he refuses to accept this.
He is sticking with his beliefs and principles.

Aiden McGeady
Alan Harper (80's)

Apart from aged players I do believe we need to be quicker to hit the box but not from the half way line. We need to do it from wide positions and have the people in the box and people anticipating just outside the box. Its a little tweak here and there not major surgery and it will not happen overnight and in certain cases not over 11 years.

Just feel people are a bit quick to jump on his back. From Genius to clueless I don't think so.

Wouldn't a genius accept that current methods are not working. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

I don't think he is accepting things as they currently stand but you cannot change things too drastically. He is using his way as a template then trying to tweak here and there with different players (mainly due to injuries) and not panic and go long. Injuries have been our main problem this year. Faith is needed here....the same faith afforded to Moyes for 11 years of semi-highs and lower than lows.

The faith offered to Moyes was by the board not the fans, he couldn't identify his weaknesses either
