Paradoxically the Howard injury will help Martinez shore up his position. Any long term poor run beyond this will be viewed as partly a result of having our number one keeper out of action.

Hopefully he doesn't have to rest on that though and either Robles finds a bit of form or we get a very good understudy in who'll eventually take over from Howard.
 
Currently 2nd choice at Wigan.... and was supposedly targeted by Pardew 2 weeks ago as a potential signing for Newcastle....

Although it does go on to say he's playing for Oman in the Asia Cup in January, so basically it isn't going to happen.
