Last season Barry and McCarthy were given a lot more time on the ball, especially against the lower clubs, to turn and spread play. We moved forward in a bank and the opponents being moved out of space with the pace of our movement.

This year, as soon as that ball is with the CB, the oppostion midfield move right on top of our midfield knowing that the ball is going to Barry and he his swamped with him facing our goal

I hate to agree with you but this is the problem however the issue is Barry and his inability to find space. Put Barkley, Besic or McCarthy in there and the system would be fine.

So now we have three dogs? Someone chalk it up to captain 'I'm right' and his magnificent hindsight.
 

This season was always going to be harder considering the increased volume of games we have to play.
Our pre season preparations I don't think we're ideal, as some of the friendlies arranged we're not the most meaningful. We did seem slow out of the blocks at the start of the season and struggled to last 90 mins in some of those early season games.
Then we get a short run of results and look to be putting some form together when we get a number of injuries.
It seems that some of the players are struggling with match fitness and our performances are lacking the energy of last season.
We had a great season last time with Martinez in charge and I'm sure he will continue to do a good job as manager of our club for years to come. He has not had the luck with so many injured players this time around. Hopefully our luck will change in the 2nd half of the season and we can continue to have a good run in the Europa League and put a good run of results together in the league.
 
Just been looking at Bobby's wiki page, and he has a mental record of both winning and losing several games in a row, when at Wigan one year he lost 9 in a row, then went and won 7 out of 9 games. Not sure what that says about him, maybe he's a confidence manager, in the same way as players are confidence players.

He comes across as someone who can easily motivate players when winning, but can't give them the kick up the arse they need when getting beat week in week out. Not sure if that's a worry or not?

Either way, I hope he turns it around and takes us on a winning streak, which to be honest looks very unlikely given the last 3/4 games.

For what it's worth, losing faith in the manager does not necessarily equate to wanting him sacked. At least not at the moment.

It would be fair to say that most of his critics fall into this camp.

It's really not as black and white as some are making it out to be.
